CosmicBills Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 You have no idea how frustrating watching this stuff happen is for anyone that isn't a Sox/Yankees fan. The Sox are JUST AS BAD now. 163423 I understand. Even though I am a Yankee fan, I am still for a salary cap in baseball.

Even though I am a Yankee fan, I am still for a salary cap in baseball. 163429 The Cardinals payroll is like 85 million and it feels like we are outmatched 20 times over. It would be like the Bills having to trade every top star they have to the Cowboys and the Cowboys having an all star team every year filled with stars from the poor teams.
gantrules Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I'm not and I love the game. Salary cap has made football boring. Look at the NFC and tell me any of those teams deserve to go besides Philly.

"So what if we lost in the ALCS...wait till December, We'll show them friggin' Sox and that snot-nosed kid....." Let's see....in about 1 years' time, the Yanks have added Alex Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, Javier Vasquez, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, and coming soon to a stadium near you....Carlos Beltran and Randy Johnson.....

Easiest time being a fan you will ever find.
BigdaddyinOrlando Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 As much as I like RJ, I think Javy will have an awesome year and continue for several more. I would love too see Vasquez, Pavano and Wright together for a couple of years. Might actually buy some time in order too develope some young talent in the system. But unfortunately I think George doesn't really care for some homegrown talent in the future!
CosmicBills Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Must make you real proud. Easiest time being a fan you will ever find. 163445 Well, at least we have to endure the legacy of one of the biggest collapses in sports history
njsue Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Think about this....Johnson Mussina Pavano Wright Brown that is a formidable staff. 163383 Kevin Brown has to go. He screwed the yankees with his stupidity.

Derek Lowe is available....
BF_in_Indiana Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Well, at least we have to endure the legacy of one of the biggest collapses in sports history 163448 You always have those 26 titles to fall back on.

DCM Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 Just think of it.....a chilly Sunday night in April....at the Bronx.....opening night.....Schilling(gimping)...Randy Johnson (in pinstripes)on the mound.....Beltran in center....Sheffield , Matsui, A-Rod, Giambi, Jeter, Posada, Womack, ....$250 million.... the look on Francona's face........priceless.

I don't see the difference.

wwovince Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Red Sox have to spend in order to compete with the Evil Empire period. Im also wishing for a salary cap because Spankees/Chokees dont have the front office to compete with the Red sox. I hope they get RJ because Javier is going to be a damn good pitcher. Varitek will resign and im not worried about the pitching at all. They will sign Clement,Millwood or Perez or trade for either AJ Burnett or Sheets. And didnt Schiling say he wasnt going to be able to pitch in playoffs after his first start in ALCS? Im not worried and neither is any red sox fan. Chokees will not beat out the red sox in the long run period!!
gmac17 Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 JohnsonMussina Pavano Wright Brown that is a formidable staff. Yeah, I wouldn't want to face Kevin Brown in a big game. And Wright, he's a hell of a pitcher these days.

Thank God the BILLS didn't face the cap in the early 1990s. 163469 I don't think I have ever disagreed that titles are won on the field, however the unfair advantage created is not right. Look at the LCS Teams since 1998. 1998- NY Yankees, Cleveland, Atlanta, San Diego 1999- NY Yankees, Boston, Atlanta, NY Mets 2000- NY Yankees, Seattle, St. Louis, NY Mets 2001- NY Yankees, Seattle, Arizona, Atlanta 2002- Anaheim, Minnesota, SF Giants, St. Louis 2003- NY Yankees, Boston, Chicago, Florida 2004- NY Yankees, Boston, St. Louis, Houston NY Yankees- 6 times Boston- 3 times St. Louis- 3 times Atlanta- 3 times NY Mets- 2 times Seattle 2 times What do EVERY ONE of those teams have in common? High payrolls. St. Louis has a high payroll for the N.L. Atlanta had a huge payroll durring their run, as did the Mets. The highest payroll doesn't always win, but it almost ensures you get there and have a shot.
