Gary M
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/conservatives-head-victory-canada-election-022335447.html "The Conservatives won 167 of 308 seats in the House of Commons in Monday's vote, giving Harper a third mandate since 2006 and his first majority. Until now, the Conservatives' minority-government status has meant they had to compromise with other parties on many policies." Like agreeing to $38 billion dollar spending cut $100 billion? One more election and we can turn our ship around.

Dante
"Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, now backed by a powerful parliamentary majority, said on Tuesday the energy sector can rest easy that his government will not impede plans to vastly expand the country's oil sands output and ship some of the crude to Asia." hmm..can he run down here next year? He'll get a couple years to prove his citizenship. Edited May 4, 2011 by Dante

Gene Frenkle
Relativity man, relativity... Canada is just like the US in many ways, only 10-20 years behind. How do Canadian elections matter to us anyway? How are those all-important Mexican elections going?

How are those all-important Mexican elections going? I'm starting to think they are 10-20 years ahead. Canada started their leftist cradle to grave master plan in earnest when Pierre Elliot Trudeau was elected. Maybe the single biggest setback Canada has had. Maybe they are finally awakening out of the dumbed down, depressing malaise that is socialism. Just maybe. Can only hope. The US, featuring our own version of PET Obama, is only just coming into its own as a socialist loser. It may take 30-40 years to first realize the destructive, regressive results of such a system, then purge the country of the cancer. Could not agree more about PET....yet people were in love with him like he was a rock star. He effed western Canada big time with his National Energy Policy, which I would have expected from the Soviet Union, not Canada. Harper will get it right...his handling of our economy has been fantastic. Like EII said, you morons are basically cheering for victory of the equivalent of American libs. Eh? Disagree. Americans equate every Canadian gov't with socialism because we have medicare. If you want to stay in government in Canada, you protect medicare. However, this was an already existing system and it is much easier to maintain status quo with 34 million people rather than impose a type of medicare on 340 million. How else are the Conservatives like Obama? Certainly they are better in handling the economy...

PET was more of a JFK figure in Canada, rather than an Obama figure to begin with. dumbed down? leftist cradle? ... oh, sorry, i forgot, the entire world revolves around sean hannity's hair and the tea party. after all, if palin can see russia from her house, i'm sure she can see canada. good god. what imperialistic delusion. let me then sum up your argument: jw
