Guest three3 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Since 1992, there have been 1.5 championships won by northern schools. Ohio St in '02, and a half for michigan splitting in '97. The best football players come from Florida and Texas, and the southeast in general. But yeah, lets draft northern guys so they have "cold weather experience" for the 1 game per season where the elements might come into play. 1 game? BS. we aren't the only city with bad winter weather. last time i checked, the bills played football in the afc EAST. and last time i checked the playoff games were played in WINTER MONTHS

First Round of the 2011 Draft: 1. Newton AUBURN 2. Miller TEXAS A&M 3. Dareus ALABAMA 4. Green GEORGIA 5. Peterson LOUISIANA 6. Jones ALABAMA 7. Smith Mizzou (from MISSISSIPPI) The first 7 picks were all from the south, 5 of them from the SEC. The players discussed as the most "sure things": Green, Peterson, Dareus, all from the SEC. Then you have 12-15 12 Ponder FLORIDA St 13 Fairley AUBURN 14 Quinn NORTH CAROLINA 15 Pouncy FLORIDA 11 out of the top 15 picks are from the South. Then in the rest of the 1st you have Carpenter, Ingram (both ALABAMA), and Sherrod (Miss St). Heck, even Corey Liuget is from Florida. Most of these players will start their rookie years and make the transition quickly. Yes, the SEC and south in general, have the most Pro ready players.

muggins Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Since 2000, the winning QBs of the Super Bowl: Kurt Warner - Northern Iowa Trent Dilfer - Fresno State Tom Brady - Michigan x3 Brad Johnson - Florida St Ben Roethlisberger - Miami Ohio x2 Eli - Miss Peyton - Tennessee Drew Brees - Purdue Aaron Rodgers - Cal So three QBs from southern schools, 7 wins from the midwest, and 2 from the west coast... List wars continue!

List wars continue! WHAT A WAR! We didn't draft a QB, what are you referring to sir? How does this, in anyway prove ANY point that you are trying to make regarding the 2011 BUFFALO BILLS DRAFT? Does this prove that the DL, LBs and DBs in the south aren't the best in the nation? Does this prove that the DL, LB, DB talent across the nation is as good as the South? No. please use another list, that is relevant to the 2011 BUFFALO BILLS DRAFT. When you are trying to prove a point, it's usually a good idea to use information relevant to the point you're trying to make. You sir, have not done that.

List wars continue! Based on the OPs thesis it is impossible for California QBs to play football in cold weather. Please delete Brady, Dilfer and Rodgers from your list. They obviously couldn't play in the elements in Buffalo.

You sir, have not done that. lol, I'm not even trying to prove anything anymore. The whole idea was that it probably isn't a good thing to look at one region of the country for draft picks. Certain people think that you can't tell that despite all our picks being from one region. Certain other people ascertained that we should only look at that region anyway because it is "the best". Opinion of which is "the best" is irrelevant; a team shouldn't focus on one region like we did. Our team was the only team to only recruit people from down south. Like I said at first; it isn't the end of the world. It is unsettling. Although checking out the Jags' draft is a lot more unsettling, lol.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Meanwhile, the OP hasn't posted in this thread since starting it.

Not only that, I seem to remember California guy Brady winning practically every snow game he's ever played, and quite a few of them by a large margin. Anyone check out that NE-Tennessee game last season?

He didn't play in the south. Just because we didnt draft a player that played outside the south doesn't mean we didn't scout anyone outside of it. You're making assumptions. They scouted gabbert. Your assumptions seem to be incorrect.

Anyone check out that NE-Tennessee game last season? Didn't Mississippi Boy Brett Favre have an INCREDIBLE winning percentage in games where the temp at kickoff was 40 degrees or less? Yeah the whole warm weather/cold weather hypothesis is one of the stupidest subjects we discuss on this board. But it never gets old.

Anyone check out that NE-Tennessee game last season? They had an absurd stat last season about Brady in the snow-- something like 150 points in a 3 game stretch of games that saw snow fall during them. Ps that stretch took like 2-3 seasons to complete. Funny as the pats play in the same division, climate AND have playoff games.

NoSaint Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 how about trent edwards success in the early months of the season over his career versus his failure when the weather turns to crap?? Could that just be that he had one winning month that he didn't even play great in, got drilled and played terrible in any weather after? Even in that great month he was putting up real shaky numbers for about 3+ quarters and then put up a drive to win late.... Against terrible defenses... Either way, my point was that you maybe, MAYBE see 1 game of terrible weather. Sometimes in a real bad year you can see two games with snow fall.
Meark Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) how about trent edwards success in the early months of the season over his career versus his failure when the weather turns to crap?? Edwards played ****ty all year.. That's why he was **** canned after 3 games. Edited May 3, 2011 by markinsd
San Jose Bills Fan Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 how about trent edwards success in the early months of the season over his career versus his failure when the weather turns to crap?? Maybe more to do with the fact that he was a crappy QB?
NoSaint Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Edwards played ****ty all year.. That's why he was **** canned after 3 games. i blame the harsh autumn weather. between the brisk september breezes, and sun in his eyes, he never stood a chance last year.
