McBeane Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 http://www.weny.com/News-Local.asp?ARTICLE3864=9159656 ...and lied to her husband and kids about it She also stole money from a local Little League and kids wrestling program while she was treasurer. I attended a golf tournament to "support" her and it disgusts me to think that someone could stoop that low, especially considering that I have had family members pass away from cancer. I hope they throw every charge at her that they can.

BTW, nice handle you got, but why is Dareus standing behind such a small podium?
Captain Hindsight Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 People suck. My sister goes to work every day to cure cancer and I can see the emotional toll it takes on her. To fake it and lie about it for money, well I'll leave it up to the big guy but I have no respect for this women or anyone else who would do this
BuffaloBill Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 This is very sick .... though sadly she is not the first to play on people's sympathies nor is she going to be the last. I hope the judge makes her pay more than just money ... maybe community service in a hospice so she can understand how painful the reality is to people who are really suffering.
MDH Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 This story has a familiar ring to it, Seinfeld episode with John Lovitz might be what you're thinking of - it's the first thing I thought of.
McBeane Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Seinfeld episode with John Lovitz might be what you're thinking of - it's the first thing I thought of. Maybe she's a Seinfeld fan and hijacked their idea?
Phlegm Alley Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Terrible. My girlfriend's mother, God rest her soul, passed from breast cancer almost 3 years ago. This is Munchausen Syndrome though.
Just Jack Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 This story has a familiar ring to it, I don't think she's the first. What a truly horrible thing for someone to do. She's not the first, and won't be the last. Here's one from my local area.... Town of Onondaga woman pleads guilty in cancer-scam fundraiser
Just Jack Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Not cancer, but even Extreme Makeover : Home Edition got duped.
KD in CA Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Anyone who would lie about that should be injected with cancerous cells.
BuffaloBill Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Not cancer, but even Extreme Makeover : Home Edition got duped. I've wondered how many of these families afford the upkeep and taxes on these homes. I'm not ignoring the point you made about the show being duped just focusing on another issue raised in the article. I suppose many of the recipients are not effective at managing their money to begin with so to think they can take on the additional financial burdens of these houses puzzled me.
