minor..... but funny....

While Newton may win the job, one thing Clausen won’t be surrendering as easily is the jersey number that Newton wore at Auburn.

“It’s mine right now,” said Clausen, who wears number 2. “We’ll see what happens.”

Asked whether the rights to the jersey can be purchased, Clausen reportedly smiled and said, “We’ll see what happens.”

It would be funny if Newton offers him a laptop for it.

Way to build some team chemistry, Jimmy. Someone needs a hug.

So you're telling me that if you were a 2nd year (starting) QB in the league and the team just drafted your replacement, you'd hand over your jersey number to the new kid? If you say "yes" you're either lying, or you're not a competitor. I wouldn't hand over what I felt was mine either! At least not right away. The starting QB wins the number. That would be my terms.

Clausen might want to take the cash route instead

But I agree with you post. No reason for him to hand it over

Ha! Jimmy Clausen has more than his friggin' jersey number to worry about. Like he's going to keep Newton on the bench?? His only hope is to shut up and be a team player. That or find a team stupid enough to trade for him.

It would be funnier if #1 is available, and Newton agreed to compromise by taking it
