JinVA Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I've caught the end of Russert's show a few times in the past month and he didn't say "Go Billls" at the end like he used to. Does anyone know when and why he stopped?
scribo Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 That could be like Carol Burnett no longer tugging her ear. Except I don't care about her ear.
KD in CA Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I don't remember him saying it every week. I though just for special occassions, like opening weekend or the Super Bowl.

Spun Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Paul Maguire toned down his pro Bills rhetoric over the years. The networks get complaints when their personnel come off as homers. Remember Todd Christensen and his coverage of Raiders games. One time TC was calling a game with Charlie Jones when a crucial call went aginst the Raiders. Christensen was very upset and Jones called him on it and TC admitted that he was rooting for the Raiders. Being that there are so many people who hate the Raiders anyways, NBC must have gotten deluged with complaints. Not too long after there was no more TC on network football telecasts.

Ennjay Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 no carol tugged her ear every show 163216 Yeah -- she said it started as a secret hello to her grandmother and she just kept doing it.
BillsNYC Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Maybe he forgot to say it one week, and since winning, probably figured it would be bad luck.
ExWNYer Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Yeah -- she said it started as a secret hello to her grandmother and she just kept doing it. 163227 No, it was a signal to her kids watching at home to go to bed.
