with 25 DB's on the roster already where do these guys fit? what will our line-up on defense look like?

Gee...gone after 2 whole posts. Pretty impressive.

27 reps on the bench press at the combine this year...wow! I'd love to see us use this kid on some safety/CB blitzes

27 reps is more than Demetrius Bell. Clearly they're converting him to LT.

Do you all realize what our secondary looks like?

CBs - McKelvin, McGee, Corner

FS - Byrd, Wilson

SS - Scott

How is that NOT a need?

Re-sign Drayton and draft DBs later. We also have yesterday's Willima's you forgot tolist. Wilson can play FS or SS.

In a passing league, especially in a division that has the patriots that runs a spread offense, you can never have enough DB's. I like what Buddy has done so far.

And Merriman and his trick knees are the pass rush...

Hopefully this is way off, otherwise not sure how he will work as a SS.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/prospects/player/da-norris-searcy-21/

Notes: Defensive back-running back as a Georgia prep. Contributed primarily on special teams as a true freshman in 2007, recording nine tackles without a pass breakup or interception in 12 games (wore jersey No. 30). In ’08, played all 14 games (two starts at strong safety) and posted 25-3-0 with two sacks. Started all 13 games at strong safety in ’09, producing 35-3-1 with one tackle for loss. Returned 24 punts for 358 yards (14.9), including a 77-yard score against The Citadel, and seven kickoffs for 162 yards (23.1). Missed the first three contests of the ’10 season due to a NCAA investigation into improper benefits before playing 10 games (nine starts) and making 37-4-4 with two tackles for loss from his strong safety position. Added 12-299-0 (24.9) on kickoff returns and 12-93-0 (7.8) on punt returns.

Positives: Very good size, bulk and length. Strong to reroute receivers — put up 225 pounds 27 times at the Combine, best amongst defensive backs. Drops into the box with urgency and shows pop on contact. Aware in zone coverage. Has lined up in multiple spots and has experience returning kicks. Has a desirable football temperament and strong intangibles — likes to play and it shows.

Negatives: Has below-average speed and is a step slow to the perimeter. Average hip flexibility and transitional quickness. Is not sudden and has man-coverage limitations — cannot keep pace with slot receivers. Average ball production. Can be overaggressive and miss some tackles.

Summary: Tough, smart, competitive strong safety who was overshadowed on a talent-laden defense. Is dependable and hardworking and should be able to compete for a roster spot and help on special teams.

Sounds like he is going to be a SS in the NFL. Dont think it's any indication on Whitner, can't see the plan being for a 4th round pick to start in the NFL day 1.

Backs up Scott for a while, then takes over. Good special teamer too.

on the positive side we can use chuck norris jokes with da'norris.

like if DB Da'Norris was a dinosaur, he would be a Da' Norri-saurus!

Re-signing Florence is not guaranteed, plus you dont know how much he wants to be paid even though he is 30+.

And Wilson is NO SS, he is ok at FS, and weak at SS.

REBUILD AND STACK THE D!! Enough with "converted WRs" as our "good" players...

Is it me, or do most scouting reports on 90% of these guys COMPLETELY contradict on another?

If one says good instincts, another says not instinctive. One tough run stopper the next says not a good run stopper. One says good speed, another says under average speed. One says good ball skills, the next says poor hands.

Totally unacceptable pick with Acho still on the board. They should have taken Acho and stacked the line. The run D was the weakest link, take a CB in Round 5 or FA. Acho is a beast, and we missed getting a pure/smart DE.

Just like the posters on this board.
