bills1960 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 How badly injured is he to fall out of the first round? is he worth our pick?
karl malones other son Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 was just about to post. i want him. holy crap
Bill Cowher Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 WORTH THE RISK!!!! PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIM PATS!
Alphadawg7 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 If his injury is what is reported, bone on bone in his knee then his career could be very short and injury plagued...that is a very serious condition and that is why he is slipping. Hopefully our team doctors checked him out, and if they feel it isnt as bad as the rumors, then I will be very happy grabbing him even though I want a QB. In fact, you have to grab him over a QB here if our doctors think he can overcome the knee stuff. But, everything I heard is that many teams dont have him anywhere on their board as it was that bad. I still want Mallet at 2, but would be almost equally ecstatic if we grab Bowers and would hope his knee isnt as bad as feared.
NoSaint Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Clearly, if he was a #1 talent, all 32 teams thought he was a big risk. Add that to the fact he doesn't fit our system and I ask, why?
EldaBillsFan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Sometimes teams get scared....and other teams. Have other needsmmand some times to guys that were projected in the 2nd rd... Big risk, only because of health...but he can do to every team needs depth... Personally I like Ayers, reed or houston... I'd rather stick with the defensive theme
saundena Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 .... Could, but I don't think we will. There's a greater possibility of us selecting Kaepernick, Mallet or Rudolph. Your scenario would be interesting though
EldaBillsFan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Oh and he didn't visit every team and he didn't do a ton of personal work outs
Deep2Moulds46 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Im obviously intrigued by Bowers, but I just fear that his knee is bone on bone. I'd rather go for the solid starting type player in Akeem Ayers who stands a much better chance of being a long term answer
We B 4 Da Billz Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I can't believe he may be there for our pick, it would be a real steal. Reading everything I can on the net about his knee, I don't think it's as bad as rumors have it.
mousetrap08 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I remember another player back in 1988 that fell into the 2nd round because of health concerns and he went to 4 straight super bowls and the hall of fame. Rememder Thurman Thomas anyone?
RayFinkle Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Clearly, if he was a #1 talent, all 32 teams thought he was a big risk. Add that to the fact he doesn't fit our system and I ask, why? Considering he can play end in a 4-3 or 3-4, how does he not fit in the Bills system?
mrags Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 A few weeks/months ago if you were looking at most mocks they had 3 guys within the top 5 picks on the DL. Bowers Dareus Fairly would yo ever imagine that the Bills could have the chance to take 2 of them? Talk about fixing up your pass rush and run defense. If the Bills take Bowers, dare I say that many of the so called experts would say we had one of the best drafts of 2011 (that's hard to even imagine considering the lack of rspect we get from the rest of the sports world). Can you imagine this? 3/4: DE- Bowers/Carrington DT- Williams/Dareus/Troupe DE- Dareus/Williams 4/3: DE- Bowers/Carrington DT- Williams/Troupe DT- Dareus/Troupe DE- Kelsey/Carrington I know he has the knee issue, but he was projectd to be a potential 1st overal pick before all this. I'm not saying he is recovered or think for sure that he will, but would t it be worth it to get him an entire round after he was projected? Does anyone know what the $$ was for the 34th pick last year? Is it worth it to take a chance? IF.... Bowers is still there at 34, do you want to pick him? I would have opened a vote but I'm unable to do that from my phone.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Back in January and February, the consensus top 3 D-linemen were Fairley, Dareus, and Bowers. It would be quite remarkable if we ended up drafting two of them without having to move up to do so.
Bangarang Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 The fact that he was talked about as a potential #1 pick and yet 32 teams passed on him worries me a bunch. So I'd rather go with someone who may not be out of the league in 3 years because he only has one leg to walk on.
BuffaloBill Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 As odd as this sounds ... If the Patsies dont take him then I seriously question the pick. I think he was over hyped I want Mallett at 34
EldaBillsFan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 gonna see how big those balls are in Nix and Gailey have... Bowers is a risk...but the reward is so huge...even if he doesn't give us 7 years...or we play it safe with Ayers
