Beerball Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 link pats* already have a trade worked out with a team wanting to move back into round 1? pats* interest in moving up in the draft to a top 5 pick? Still thinks Newton to Carolina...plus other stuff.
Doc Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 To move into the top-5, the Pats would have to give up their top 4 picks, and probably more given that there will likely be modified rookie salaries, making the top picks more valuable. Can't see them doing that.

Can't see them doing that. If you go by the value chart, newengland's* top 3 picks (17, 28, and 33) would roughly equal the 3rd overall pick. I'd take that trade in a heartbeat if i am Buffalo, but there's no way belicheat* gives up 3 top 33 picks for a single player. To anyone.
Mr. WEO Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Depends on whether they think Julio Jones is still there at 17.

That draft value chart becomes moot with the move to more reasonable rookie salaries. There are only so many blue chip players in a draft, and if that blue-chipper isn't getting a ridiculous salary anymore, it makes the pick that much more valuable.

It was moot before that because the values were never close to what the chart professes
Astrobot Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Depends on whether they think Julio Jones is still there at 17. We don't have Jones or Green getting out of the Top 9.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Depends on whether they think Julio Jones is still there at 17. No way Julio Jones makes it past Washington and St. Louis.
