Greg de'Ville Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 ...If you haven't seen this, check it out. It is a architectural and engineering masterpiece...now the tallest span in the world. Very impressive. Dedicated Tuesday and open to traffic Thursday. I'd love to see a new Peace Bridge--whenever it is built--take some elements of what the French did with the Millau Bridge. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...hl%3Den%26lr%3D
udonkey Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Personally, I think that thing is scarier than all hell. Can you imagine a high wind?
ExiledInIllinois Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I can't use the link. Why does it have to be tall?... It isn't like many ships use the Black Rock Channel any more? If they need to pass... Just break the bulk down. I am pretty sure there is still some arcane USCG rule dictating the height at the span section?
Pete Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Um the architecht was British not French. That bridge is beautiful though!
dib Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 If you look closely you can see Rommel sending troops across the river on rubber rafts.

First day it was opened to the public: first demonstration (by local associations asking for more federal money for the area) at its toll booths!!
