Bills review on Mike & Mike this AM

I turned on ESPN News out of bed and the interview with Mike Mularkey came on. He talked about the Offensive line as being the major hurdle with this team ( duh ).

Kept emphasizing the playcalling will be simplified and that he has confidence in DB. Travis starts at RB and Willis will get his chances. Very pleased with the Defense and is happy to be surrounded by such an experienced coaching staff.

After the commercial break, Mike Greenburg picked us for 9-7. Golic had us at 8-8 with a possibility of better. The OL and Bledsoe returning to form must be proven, in their eyes. They like our Defense a lot.

That's not too far off. It's going to come down to how much more improved the offensive line is or isn't.

The only part that concerns me is that many people, myself included, have stressed the need for upgrading the offensive line since last season, yet the Bills have done little in the way of personnel to do so. We just have to hope McNally finds the best way to utilize the abilities of the guys we do have.

TD did upgrade the OL in terms of CV replacing RB, but to ignore the OL until the 7th round of the draft and then watch Pucillo go from 1st to 3rd string at LG in about 30 seconds is not a good sign.

I have been complaining about the Bills OL for the last six years. I fail to understand why TD has given upgrading the line such a low priority up to now.

On the positive side, the current coaching staff understands the importance of a competent OL, a competence that I have said has been lacking for at least the past 6 years.

Good post. You and I agree on the line; the problems go back to when we let Wolford and House go in free agency and when Hull (one of my favorite Bills of all time) retired. Things just went downhill from there. Why Donahoe doesn't put a premium on good OL talent is beyond me, especially since we have an immobile QB who needs an established pocket to throw from due to said immobility.

McNally has already gone on record in PFW on possibly moving MW to guard. I hope if the need to make this move arises, that egos of front office staff who drafted MW at #4 don't get in the way and do not allow that move to happen.
