KD in CA
Of course. Then he could stupidly self-righteous about foreign corporations, too. But if we were all one nation, he wouldn't be able to cry about "multi-national" corporations anymore, which would be sad since it's common knowledge that those are MUCH more evil than uni-national corporations. ....lybob
So, you would like to see a global government? No but I think that's where we are headed or at least to blocks of nations maybe first a transatlantic block. But if we were all one nation, he wouldn't be able to cry about "multi-national" corporations anymore, which would be sad since it's common knowledge that those are MUCH more evil than uni-national corporations. The problem with Multi-nationals is two-fold 1. in regards to this country that they can participate in the political process without being fully invested in the results- if as a result of their political participation there is social unrest or infrastructure breakdown, or ecological disaster, or a destroyed consumer market, or a less educated less well trained labor force or any other negative consequence they can just move. They are in no way forced to balance short term gains with long term consequences. 2. in general they can play off countries against each other in lower wages, less worker safety, and less environmental restrictions making it a race to the bottom with the only constrains being labor force skill, infrastructure and social stability. I think corporations are being short sighted in even their own best interest, if they destroy the purchasing power of the west they will vastly diminish other countries incentive to open markets or follow western trade rules and regulations- because of the potential of the Chinese Market, China can force businesses to transfer technology for participation in that market, when China reaches manufacturing quality parity with the west, why will they continue to allow easy access to their markets if Western markets are greatly diminished- in less than five years they could exist comfortably between their own domestic market India, Russia (as a major energy provider), Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Australia- They have Energy, large markets, advance technology, they can continue trading infrastructure projects for natural resources in Africa and South America - remember what we think of as rule of law and human rights comes from the west and while we may be hypocritical as how we apply them at least we have that foundation, the world is going to be very different if there is a quick Asiatic ascendancy.
