....lybob
Just want people to know that the Intelligence agencies are involved in corporate business, the State Department is involved in corporate business, and our military policies are about economic interests. The point being there are no free markets on the international level and there have never been free markets on the international level.

Yes, because an entirely appropriate and accurate response to "US tax policy is unfriendly to corporations!" is "But the CIA works to make the international environment friendly to US corporations!" It is entirely appropriate to remind American corporations that they benefit from American power and they shouldn't begrudge paying a small amount for access to that power. Nanker
Pity that the distinction between free and frictionless markets is lost on most of the world. Of course Porter listed six forces, but insisted on counting only five. That the sixth has the most coercive power of them all doesn't mean its influence is even handed. Quite the opposite, in my view.

....lybob
Just like the right-wing that talks about family values mostly don't walk the walk, the cuntsevatives who talk about free markets, small government and meritocracy are just blowing smoke and live these values not at all in their personal lives. Corporate taxes as a percentage of gdp link Small government rhetoric politicians who suck on the government tit link Today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reveals that Walker is using state funds to pay more than $81,500 a year to the 26-year-old son of a major campaign donor with no college degree and two drunken-driving convictions. Despite having almost no management experience, UW Madison college dropout Brian Deschane now oversees state environmental and regulatory issues and manages dozens of Commerce Department employees. After only two months on the job, Deschane has already received a 26 percent pay raise and a promotion.

whateverdude
It is entirely appropriate to remind American corporations that they benefit from American power and they shouldn't begrudge paying a small amount for access to that power. You have it so ass backwards. "American power" exists because of the Consent of the governed. Successful corporations are legally formed by the American people "the governed" through ingenuity and hard work. The power flows from the people to the government not the reverse. If it was not for powerful American corporations our government would be just another banana republic in a big turd world.
