"Top executives at the Fiesta Bowl, the host of one of the nation’s pre-eminent college football games, funneled campaign contributions to local politicians, flew other Arizona elected officials around the country at the bowl’s expense, racked up a $1,200 bill at a strip club, and even spent $30,000 on a birthday party for the chief executive, according to an investigative report commissioned by the bowl’s board of directors," Thomas writes.

I don't really have anything new to add. It's all been said. All I can say is nothing will ever change unless there is outside intervention. It's totally corrupt through and through. It's old white guys controlling money and keeping power and status. As we all know. I mean the main argument for the balls is what again?

So....you'd feel better about it if young, black gals were controlling it all?

We need a playoff system.

Agreed, for the simple fact that it would much more closely establish a true National Champion, rather than depending on man, beast or computer to conjure one. No excuses, just win.

But to think there wouldn't be just as much --- or a lot more --- shenanigans with the $ surrounding it is specious.

The NCAA really needs to develop a plan for those athletes who don't care about school and would rather have remuneration instead of an academic scholarship. Or perhaps, set aside some portion of the profits that will be payable to players after their college career, or into a retirement account? It's sick that the kids who play the game get less and less a percentage back through tuition/room/board on what they produce for their U... while fat cat administrators/boosters/pols stuff themselves and get lap dances.
