Tom no matter how much you ass kiss or boot lick you will never be in the big boys club, at best you might churn an old widows portfolio, commit a pump and dump stock scheme, or get a small kickback from some type mortgage fraud- you are small fish. Try a reverse mortgage swindle those sick old people are golden.

Who knows what the real story is. Even taking the article at face value, anyone who can avoid getting their money confiscated is a folk hero to me. If its a form of corporate welfare, at least GE provides jobs and income to thousands of individuals and businesses. More than I can say for the entitlement class who just take and take.

Did you ever work for GE?

I did.

Want to know why I am not still working for GE?

I'll go with (1) You didn't like the way they were building nuclear plants in Japan or (2) you didn't like the way they were dumping billions into Brazilian oil drilling firms immediately after we banned drilling in the US and a full year before the WH announced that the US needs more oil from Brazil?

Do you have a (3)?

Nothing sadder than the current generation of morons who get their 'news' from the Daily Show. And even more pathetic when it's the Daily News spinning of a NYT article that was full of sh-- in the first place.

Interesting, they not only pay nothing in taxes, but our evil, socialist government actually pays them money back.

They are socialist. They also are corrupt. Expect us to live in serfdom while they steal whenever they can. I guess its just coincidence that GE was the biggest contributer to the community organizer's campaign.

Why are you surprised? This is how the world works. Everyone does what is best for them. Companies owe it to their shareholders, employees, and customers to keep their costs down. This is one way they do it.

The government better serves the citizenry by making the economic climate more suitable to business. That means low taxation and only necessary regulation with rigorous oversight. The problem has long been the reactionary posture the government takes to every "crisis". They never look at the long range implications/complications.

The tax code is incredibly complicated and Congress has been using it for years to screw the average citizen. It's their best weapon for keeping power.

This is simply great! Proof positive that propaganda works--as do the rest of these right wing posts. So they owe nothing to the country that enforces the laws, provides the infrastructure and education to produce workers that make their business possible? The dream land you live in is just incredible. And can you please tell me exactly what a company owes it's workers??

And boo hoo for a complicated tax code. You guys are simply mindless anti-tax boobs. Little spoiled brats that's want it all for nothing. Why don't you trashy people go find a place and found a no tax country and live in a cave.

This is more what I expected, the Fox news zombies actually complaining about the messenger. That is funny. You guys are exactly like doctrinaire Marxist. Except you just live by the word of Rush/Hannity instead of Marx

this disproportionately punishes those that can least afford it. this is a regressive tax as opposed to the progressive tax system we currently have. i see it as a step backwards.

I suggest you read it in full before you opine or you come out looking rather foolish.

Flat tax would be nice. No exemptions or loopholes. Imagine the human cry from all the IRS workers? All the tax lawyers and accountants would have to find something else to do.

There should be some exemptions, on food, water and other necessary essentials. Many people are struggling as it is, to place an added tax on their lives creates an even larger burden and it would be quite regressive. I am in favor for a flat tax, but as I said exemptions on necessary essentials would HAVE to be included. Now of course I understand that defining "necessary essentials" could be tricky but still, it would be much more simple than the idiotic tax code we have today..

Also, it's quite ludicrous that GE is'nt paying anything in taxes. Yes, they do provide jobs etc, but come on!

GE actually paid an effective tax rate of about 7% in 2010. Not zero.

Does that include the billion or two in payroll taxes, property taxes and other state and local taxes they paid?
