Why no looters in Japan?

Recommended Posts

Lost in this, I think, is one simple fact: the Japanese aren't stupid. Look at what was looted during Katrina - big-screen TVs and household appliances that had been soaking in water for days. Apparently, the Japanese are smart enough to say "Hey, look...a big-screen TV that's been soaking in sea water," recognize it as garbage, and walk by it.

Plus...no blacks in Japan. Everyone knows that blacks "loot", whites "forage for supplies", and the Japanese...I don't know, maybe they "scavenge"?

Where the hell did you get this???

The San Fran Museum... On arson and 1906:

1906

Fort Mason, California,

April 27, 1906

The Military Secretary, Department of California:

Sir:

I have the honor to report that on the morning of the earthquake, on my return from ordering the "McDOWELL" to Alcatraz and Fort McDowell, I was stopped by a fireman who told me that people in that neighborhood were firing their houses, as they were told that they would not get their insurance on buildings damaged by the earthquake unless they were damaged by fire.

This report was not made at the time as, in the rush to do other things, it was neglected.

Very respectfully,

(signed) Leonard D. Wildman

Captain, Signal Corps, U.S. Army, Chief Signal Officer

Department of California

I've read reports saying that Japan has them too.

Although with current stereotypes you can probably guess why you don't hear about them too much.

Japan

Exactly... Who wants to go investigate (Western News sources) with higher levels of radiation around...

And it was very nice of you to change "some of" in the museum's page to "most of" in your post. :wallbash:

Great. Now point us to the information that says most of the fires were started by people trying to collect on insurance.

Ewww, I feel dirty.

The report didn't even say "some of" but that "people in that neighborhood" which could represent 2 people or everybody. You're an idiot and a moron.

Did you really read my link?

I wasn't commenting on your link.. I was commenting on the implication that you made... That "Japan ahs them too." If you are satying on topic, what can it mean? Looters. Sorry, next time I wil verify you aren't being funny... I assumed you were posting sincerely. My bad.

  Yeah, just two people set fires... Just a very minute few in a single neighborhood.

Come on, you aren't that naive... Are you? Something like this is like seeing cockrocahes. See one and there 10 dozen more behind the scene.

Nice going Mr. Spock! Keep up the good work.

Don't argue with Mr. Spock... He has no emotion... :P

Obviously he didn't, but that is typical of Exiled. He's living proof that "making it flow backwards" truly makes him full of schit.

Still can't think out of the box, critically think? Still unhung up this "making it flow backwards" idea... I explained it once... You are not suppose to take it lieterally. What are you Spock's love child now?

Japan

For a moment I read the thread topic title as Why no hooters in Japan.

Would probably be a better discussion.

Exactly. Hence my post.

Still waiting to see where you got the idea MOST of the fires were set for insurance. You do know most of the city burned down don't you? You do know that's because most of the city lost water pressure. You do know that most earthquakes are accompanied by devastating fires don't you?

Chef, according to Exiled you have to think out of the box. His "thinking out of the box" is if one union member committed arson then they probably all did.

What a perfect cover for arson. All it takes is one fire to be intentionally set... Or in some cases a legend about a cow tipping over a lantern.;)

Let's think outside of the box here and not get stuck on the word "most" like Mr. Spock is doing... Totally silly. The point being made is that shady activities have been going on since the dawn of time. That we don't need to glorify the past (as in 1906) or a people like the Japanese... People act the same everywhere... SOME worse, SOME better... It all depends on the situation. We don't know what the heck is really happening in Japan... Yet, the ballwashing crowd is chiming in... Just to slam others.

It amazes me I even argue with the brain dead, "I see only in black and white" crowd like the one's you latch on to.

Don't worry... What I am saying isn't a direct reflection of your beloved Bay Area... I am not slamming it in the least... Just illustrating the idea that throughout time, people have acted similar. Sorry that I am not part of your ballwashing crowd and we all can't be a big happy family/circle jerk.

This isn't about your opinion of where I live. I don't care what you think. It's about you making a stupid statement to make a stupid point and not admitting it and backpeddling. This thread is not about whether or not there has ever been looting elsewhere but why there has been little in Japan. You know why there has been little looting in Japan? Because there is mainly one race/religion/ethnic people in Japan. I said it's one word, respect but after thinking about it the one word is unity. They, for the most part get along whereas we do not.

So you're inferring "most". Based on nothing more than your deep, penetrating understanding of human nature and arson. And you call that "thinking outside the box".

Let me repeat what I said earlier: thinking outside the box is not a benefit when you're an idiot.
