EldaBillsFan Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I was reading about Vom Miller, and everyone says he has the Talent and Ability to be Great, but he doesnt have the work-ethic and the quote-unquote motor to be consistent ... whats more important to draft... Talent and Ability Or Work-Ethic and the Motor?
Bangarang Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Tough to say. Some guys can have careers getting by on just their God given talent. Others can have careers because they work hard and give it their all on every play. To truly be great, you need both.
K-9 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Ideally, both. But having all the natural ability in the world means little without the work ethic to hone it. Where are the reports questioning Miller's work ethic? GO BILLS!!!

EldaBillsFan Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 no answers .... I look at our last two really good DL Phil Hansen and Schobel .... they were more work-ethic and motor than talent and ability....
CosmicBills Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 no answers .... I look at our last two really good DL Phil Hansen and Schobel .... they were more work-ethic and motor than talent and ability.... Why do you say that? Both Hansen and Schobel were INCREDIBLY skilled and talented players.
EldaBillsFan Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Skill I consider with Work-Ethic , and they were talented, but i wouldnt say either had explosive abilities.... and i wasnt saying Von Miller had a poor Work-ethic, just saying the articles I read about him got me thinking http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/08/von-miller-gets-the-dreaded-vernon-gholston-comparison/ http://www.csnbayarea.com/03/08/11/Razzano-Some-team-will-make-mistake-on-M/landing.html?full_args=03/08/11/Razzano-Some-team-will-make-mistake-on-M/landing&blockID=435699&feedID=5936
DrDawkinstein Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 "Talent": The most dangerous word in sports. Maybe in life. Even more dangerous: "Potential" As Jon Gruden says, no other word from player evaluations has gotten more coaches fired.
CosmicBills Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Even more dangerous: "Potential" As Jon Gruden says, no other word from player evaluations has gotten more coaches fired. Absolutely.
EldaBillsFan Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Even more dangerous: "Potential" As Jon Gruden says, no other word from player evaluations has gotten more coaches fired. lol... potential is only good in baseball because of the farming system
8-8 Forever? All potential, nothing proven. winning a national champ. with a stellar dfense adds up to very little for me. Give me another 3 win season and a shot at Andrew Luck. Or take Kaepernick in round 3 or 4 and see what he can do.
