stevestojan Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 They also would have won the first one had the kick gone 5 feet to the left. Didn't happen. It will, soon.

Our key to losing the last 3 SB's lies with Bill Polian's unwillingness to take 1 more risk to put the Bills over the top. Our biggest weakness at that time was our lack of bulk on the D-line. Parcells and Belichik knew this and it was key to their winning SB XXV. That offseason, Polian was known to be interested in an underachieving DT at Louisville by the name of ...Ted Washington. Now, bear in mind this was before the free agent era. Polian held his ground in the draft instead of making a trade to move up TWO SPOTS and snag Washington with the 25th pick, one ahead of where TW went to the 49ers. We settled on Henry Jones, who was a fine player for the Bills. But this was a Bills team that had one weakness only, and that was it. I firmly believe a SB victory would have been ours if we could stop the run effectively. We consistently ranked in the bottom 4th of the league against the run for most of that SB run. One player could have made the difference. When TW finally made it to the Bills, our O was a shell of its former self. B)
