BuffaloBill Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Living off the grid in west Texas is a redundant phrase.
Pete Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 God bless him. Good article and kudos to the subject for giving up a $600,000 house to live off the grid. America is the most materialistic society in the world. The article was a refreshing read. Now most of you can go back and catch up on the latest Charlie Sheen or Lindsay Lohan incident

Now most of you can go back and catch up on the latest Charlie Sheen or Lindsay Lohan incident The most materialistic and the most judgmental society in the world. What a douche.
Pete Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 The most materialistic and the most judgmental society in the world. What a douche. America has less then then 5% of the worlds population, yet purchases 1 in 4 items purchased in the world. The truth hurts
Jim in Anchorage Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 He's living like a king compared to some of the "off the grid" people I know in Alaska. They don't even live on the road system much less pay car insurance.
Acantha Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 America has less then then 5% of the worlds population, yet purchases 1 in 4 items purchased in the world. The truth hurts And has 1 of 4 of the world's douche bags.
/dev/null Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 And has 1 of 4 of the world's douche bags. I suspect you're underestimating the population
boyst Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 America has less then then 5% of the worlds population, yet purchases 1 in 4 items purchased in the world. The truth hurts We also are the worlds richest country, for the most part. We buy food because we can afford to do so. We have multiple vehicles because we can afford to do so. We spend money on the extras in life because we can do so. When food costs go up, people will stop buying it and raise it themselves. When fuel prices go up people will find alternative ways to move around. How much do you buy? How much do you make or raise for yourself?
KD in CA Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 America has less then then 5% of the worlds population, yet purchases 1 in 4 items purchased in the world. The truth hurts So what? People always quote such statistics as though free goodies would just magically appear at the doorstep of some unfortunate half a world away if Americans bought less. If Americans bought less it would simply mean a worse global economy and higher global unemployment.
