IDBillzFan
Is this thread about Obama or Obamacare or pushing liberals down flights of stairs? Soooo funny watching you squirm. Thanks for putting a smile on my face on this lovely WNY AM! The Geno thing might be annoying if it was actually my name, Mock. Stay classy LA. You don't like the flight of stairs quote? Is it too violent for you? Could this be the new moderate and civil Geno we keep hearing about?
Booster4324
You don't like the flight of stairs quote? Is it too violent for you? Could this be the new moderate and civil Geno we keep hearing about? Actually, I thought it was funny when I first read it and forwarded it to a conservative friend.
Gene Frenkle
You don't like the flight of stairs quote? Is it too violent for you? Could this be the new moderate and civil Geno we keep hearing about? No, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just think it's an insight into what an incredibly partisan hack you've become. It's completely mindless rhetoric in the spirit of Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc... It makes it abundantly clear how worthless and trite your opinion really is. I could turn on any conservative radio or television program and know exactly what you're thinking about political issues at any time. When I first started reading this board, you at least pretended to be middle-of-the-road with your politics. How the "mighty" have fallen!
Chef Jim
In the south... Which is now more prefered than the northern climates due to infrastructure cost. The two-day blizzard in Chicago this past February cost the city 37 million dollars. Sure Texas gets its "events" too. That is not the main reason... I would say the petrol chemical industry is at the heat and that is geographically influenced by cheap transportation systems available. And now... Even know many can find it a draw back... The Mexican border and cheap labor. Oh come on man really. Geography?? Snow storms? Hurricanes cause billions of dollars of damage every year. Now they don't just hit Texas but mainly in the south or southeast with its "preferred climate" The Mexican border = cheap labor? Maybe so but it also means higher crime related costs. And as LA said if geography had ANYTHING to do with the financial success of a state of CA it would be the 8th largest economy in the world. Oh wait......how's that working out for us? Chilly
Tourism/climate... I just had friends get back from San Antonio... They said it was really nice... Close proximity to the coast, especially the south Texas coast... Again, weather/climate and freshwater... Sorta and "oasis" from what I read. Anyway.. We were talking about the whole state of Texas being blessed to an extent. SA is the 2nd largest city. There's a lot of reasons why San Antonio is successful: - The cost of doing business in San Antonio is cheap. Taxes are low, there's no state income tax, housing prices are reasonable and have stayed stable, thus cost of living is low. - Tourism industry is strong, largely due to the Riverwalk (a city creation) and lots of events (like the Rock n Roll marathon). - There's an extremely diverse company base. Companies like USAA, ClearChannel, and Tesoro make their headquarters here. AT&T used to have its hq here too, but still has a huge presence in the area. There's also a huge financial services market (lots of big bank regional offices, like citi, operate here). - The Military has a strong presence here, which helps stabilize the region. - There's a strong technology presence in San Antonio. The company I work for, Rackspace, is one of the two biggest Cloud Computing companies in the country (the other being Amazon), and companies like Microsoft operate big offices here. - The medical industry is huge in San Antonio. We're one of the biggest places for research & new medical technologies. - UTSA, UT Health Science Center, and UT Austin are all breeding grounds for new technical employees. The market for new, young talent is strong in this region. In summary, The low cost of business & the local talent pool has attracted a lot of companies to the area in diversified fields. This has helped the region stay strong and successful, and is continuing to grow despite current economic problems. Yes, we have to close the budget gap, and it's huge, but we're in way better shape than a huge number of other states.
IDBillzFan
When I first started reading this board, you at least pretended to be middle-of-the-road with your politics. So we're supposed to believe that you have now opted to try this label on for size? I have to admit, it looks like a tight fit, but I suspect that's just water retention. The true test of my middle-of-the-road approach will be seen in the coming years as the GOP regains control of the Senate, WH, etc. It's only a matter of time; we both know this to be true. When that time comes, if you see me mindlessly defending every moronic step they take, THEN your desire to randomly stand in judgement of others based on their online contributions might have some meat to it. Otherwise, in spite of your best efforts, you are no less of a partisan hack than me. Simply pretending that you're middle of the road and calling other people a partisan hack doesn't change what you've proven over time here. The only difference between you and me from a political hack standpoint is my ideology isn't currently embarrassing itself in the WH. But hey! How about those Texas tea party folks! Now THAT's embarrasing! Edited March 8, 2011 by LABillzFan

DC Tom
If only that were true... I know two conservatives that watch Fox News - and the correlation between them and Fox News is less "they're conservative" and more "they're pinheads." Conversely, I only know two liberals who DON'T B word about Fox News every single day. Most of the conservatives I know couldn't tell you what cable channel it's on. Most of the liberals I know seem to know the details of their programming content.

IDBillzFan
Why is it that liberals pay so much more attention to Fox than conservatives? I'm sure Geno will argue this case because he is clearly more aware of what I do than even I am, but in the morning, I flip around websites that include OC Reg, Fox, ABC, CNN, Yahoo, Politico, HuffPost, The Hill and RCP. The only time I turn on Fox News any more is on Sirius in my office when Brett Baier is on because he's pretty straightforward and I dig his panel, or on the rare chance I get the remote at night to watch Greta Van Susteren, who I genuinely enjoy watching. I will also seek out Dennis Miller's weekly appearances on O'Reilly because I have always liked his delivery, even on MNF. I have spent time in the past listening to Hannity, Rush, etc. but after a while it's just constant whining and complaining, and if I want that, I can come here to read Geno's posts. One guilty pleasure: I occasionally listen to Mark Levin because I thought "Liberty and Tyranny" was pretty damn good, and he absolutely cracks me up when he starts ripping on people. Too funny. regressing towards the mean, eh, conner? 3.5? Or is it pBills? Your posts have gone to hell. Oh, wait. Sorry. Your responces are good cut and pastes of the typical liberal slant here. You throwing the political Hack phrase out there is pretty funny, considering your recent posts. Keep it up though. Louder, and more often, please. Its a great read., Thanks for the funny Geno pages at PPP. You've got to go into sydication, they're brilliant posts. Really!!
ExiledInIllinois
You know when you wouldn't find it funny to be pushed down a flight of stairs? When your head's rolling down a flight of stairs, that's when. Where is Crayonz and what have you done to/with him! You don't like the flight of stairs quote? Is it too violent for you? Could this be the new moderate and civil Geno we keep hearing about? Actually as a progressive liberal I think that the quotes are funny and so true... It is weird that you and others are obssesed about us to the point of actually using them as signatures... Same thing with the Conner references... I didn't know he was actually making valid points to get under people's skins.
