BiggieScooby Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) Leif Larsen! Tom Brady goes to the Patsy's 5 picks later, we all know the rest is history. Alex Van Pelt, Flutie & Johnson were just that good. The curse began with Leif, I say let's burn him at the stake! Edited March 4, 2011 by BiggieScooby
Captain Hindsight Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Not sure if the Bills were using HGH at that time Apparently Tom Brady found some http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/tombrady-combine.jpg
Chimp Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Alex Van Pelt, Flutie & Johnson were just that good. You say that like Tom Brady was a big deal coming out of school. Last time I checked the 199th overall draft pick doesn't get a 60 million dollar contract as a rookie. They are lucky to get a team hat with their first contract.

Tell me who saw this schlub as a future 3X SB MVP and hall-of-famer? Did the Bills whiff? So did 30 other teams. Not that I can prove it but I believe Tom Brady only became ***TOM BRADY*** because he went to New England. Was it coaching or something else? As a Bill he would likely have been cut and forgotten long ago. PTR Edited March 4, 2011 by PromoTheRobot
Tortured Soul Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Tom Brady was the friggin' back up at Michigan. Tell me who saw this schlub as a future 3X SB MVP and hall-of-famer? Did the Bills whiff? McBeane Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Leif Larsen! Tom Brady goes to the Patsy's 5 picks later, we all know the rest is history. Alex Van Pelt, Flutie & Johnson were just that good. The curse began with Leif, I say let's burn him at the stake! Get over it. It was 11 years ago and I'm sure you weren't sitting in front of your TV screaming that we should take Brady. On another note, what guarantee is there that he would have been nearly as successful on the Bills?
Ghost of Rob Johnson Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 While you're generally right, he wasn't the backup. http://www.totalfootballstats.com/PlayerQB.asp?id=403 He wasn't the outright starter, he was splitting time with the phenom Drew Henson.
KD in CA Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 While you're generally right, he wasn't the backup. http://www.totalfoot...erQB.asp?id=403 No he wasn't. I remember watching him at Michigan; he was pretty good QB on a very good team. Looking back, it's hard to figure why teams had so little interest in him given that he was a good pocket passer from a big program and there was so little QB talent in that draft. The Browns took a QB named Spergon Wynn from SW Texas St earlier in that round. Good call there. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/2000/nfldraft/breakdowns/by_position/QB.html SI's review of Brady was fairly positive, sounds like they thought he had everything other than the dreaded "big arm" that so many teams have followed to their doom. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/2000/nfldraft/players/13296.html He wasn't the outright starter, he was splitting time with the phenom Drew Henson. True, but the 'split' was about 80/20.
tennesseeboy Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Tho me their downfall was picking Mike Williams over Bryant McKinney, who was a pretty obviusly more talented left tackle. We went for "character" whatever the hell that is. Character and a buck will get you a cup of coffee some places, but it ain't going to get you into the playoffs.
AReed Deep For 7 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I'd settle for GHB for the past 11 years...
Packerland Bills Fan Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 The bigger mistake was trading a #1 for Drew Bledsoe. Drew only looked good for one year and eventually decided he needed a replacement. It gave New England another #1 and allowed Brady to be the permanent starter.

Kipers Hair Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 And only if I had put a grand on the Giants to win the last World series in the spring of 2010....what were the odds? Look, we all look good when we know the outcome - in this case as you'll recall, we paid a ransom for RJ who was to QB us for the foreseeable future and we needed D-Line help...the move made sense then.
BillsWest Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Sorry, due to the air quality, Leif burning will be prohibited today.
Jeffery Lester Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Sorry, due to the air quality, Leif burning will be prohibited today. LMFAO
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Leif Larsen! Tom Brady goes to the Patsy's 5 picks later, we all know the rest is history. Alex Van Pelt, Flutie & Johnson were just that good. The curse began with Leif, I say let's burn him at the stake! I liked Leif because he had the talent but he didn't have the heart for the game. Growing up in Norway and and just trying out for his college Team (Texas Elpaso ?)as he had a track scholarship, it just wasn't in his blood. No one new about Brady so lets quit beating this horse.
