With the BILLS in desperate need of a big old DT, who do you look at from history's past to point at and say this is why we should take a DT 1st round, and who compares to that player in this years draft???

Have fun with this one...

Marcel Dareus = Warren Sapp.

I was saying this long before scouting reports started making the comparison. Dareus has great scheme flexibility too.

At 6'3" and 319 pounds (combine measurements) he is the ideal 3-4, 5 technique but he's also perfectly suited to play a 3 technique in a 4-3 defense (he played both at Alabama). Dareus is also stout and powerful enough to get some snaps at nose tackle in a pinch..he's bigger than Troup and much more talented.

Warren Sapp played most of his career as a 3 technique under tackle in the Tampa 2 defense but at the end of his career in Oakland, he played defensive end and was still effective…even in his waning days.

Sapp is one of only two interior defensive linemen with over 100 career sacks…John Randle is the other.

I, like many, feel that Dareus is a larger version of Sapp…in fact Sapp said the same thing.

He's powerful, explosive, plays with great leverage and quickness, and uses his hands very well. He's a disruptive player who would demand double teams on the majority of snaps.
