I took Cam Newton

My reasons

- Cam would not get a lot of playing time in his first year.....possibly a sprinkle of wildcat, but we have a good situation here where we can finally draft a QB high and not ruin him but putting him on the field and lean on him in the first year. You draft him and Fitz is still the man......Newton is in the wings and will be much better for the fact that someone like Gailey is bringing him along.

- I am also a believer that your high picks need to be contributers...but the good news is there are defensive players carrying a 1st round grade that will slip in the the 2nd round and we pick high in the second. Phil Taylor might slip to there. We will also see some good linebacker prospects with our 3rd and 4th round picks

- One thing you hardly ever see with a mobile QB is a guy who can throw the ball accurately....and Cam can. He has a cannon to play in the cold Buffalo weather, he is a extremely large guy.

- In two years when the bills are truely ready to make a super bowl push Cam will be ready.

- Who knows if we draft low enough next year to be in the blue chippers and getting a QB.....we dont even have a backup right now....WE NEED A QB.

Staying with AJ Green.

I was warming to the idea of Newton, then I read his blowhard immature comments today and said "no thanks."

There isn't a front 7 defender worth the #3 overall pick.

My pick is Quinn he is not undersized and is an absolute beast. He can play olb in a 3-4, it's a need and IMO he's the best player in the draft. I am surprised Newton is getting so many votes... think JaMarcus.

think you don't have any clue. only thing they have in common is size and skin color.

Newton has as much hanging over him as Reggie Bush did. I think he has serious character issues.

he's just like 50% of all former 1st round picks.....he took money. he's one of a select few that got caught.

I didnt think we had so many Quinn fans already. I figured he would be the flavor of the month in march, after the combine.

I also voted Cam Newton,

I might be inclined to pepper Cam in a little more then John suggests during his rookie season, but I agree, not rushing Newton and allowing him to develop slowly under Gailey/Fitz is an ideal situation for the Auburn Tiger signal caller.

-Aaron Maybin was a pretty good one year wonder. Cam Newton might be the best 1 year wonder ever.

-Some people are comparing him to Vick and Young. Some people even compare him to Jamarcus Russell . Doesn't mean they are alike. I don't see it. He's a much more polished QB than both of them were coming out. The biggest question about him as a QB is the 1 read system he played in at Auburn. If I were to compare skill sets, I think Big Ben is similar. But Cam has better wheels and has led his team to a national championship, but has less experience and maybe not as polished.

I notice how you ignore that both Vick and Young have been severe head cases to the teams that drafted them, and I disagree that Newton is more polished then Mike Vick was coming out of college. Lots of college QB's win national Championships and then never amount to anything in the NFL.

Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Mario Williams were all in contention for that #1 overall in 2006. Fans in Houston wanted to GM Lynch Charlie Casserlie for passing on Bush and Young to select the DE #1 overall, Bush turned out to be a high priced 3rd down specialist (the Patriots laugh at that), Young a head case. Bush set to make 11 million from the Saints this year, somehow I doubt that happens. Mike Vick-Vince Young- Jamarcus Russell are his comparisons like it or not, and a history of problems, man I hope Carolina takes Newton

You can compare them all you like...they are different people, players and athletes. He in no way resembles Jamarcus Russell as a QB. None. It's funny how you only compare him to other black QBs

I want a defense. If we can't stop these 200+ yard rushing games, it won't matter if we have Joe Montana 2.0 out there; we aren't going to win a championship.

Don't throw the race card here, in actuality its what EVERYONE IS comparing him to, the guy I quoted threw in Russell. They all happen to be black QB's who can scramble, have big arms and who all played brilliantly in college. Vick never won a national championship tho, and was the #1 overall for a reason. He was faster-quicker then most NFL DB's, he was clocked at 4.36 at his rookie mini camp, and said to have run a 4.25-4.33 at the combine. Thats Dion Sanders DB type speed at 4.28 and almost unreal.

Just to give you some perspective on the subject ...Newton did the 40yd dash in 4.75, Fitz did it in 4.87....Newton isn't going to run away from anybody in the NFL, just ask Spiller!

I couldn't agree more here, the year the bills took Aaron Maybin I was pushing for a LT-RT-C any O linemen really, but everyone was so enamored with Maybin's speed.....where are all the "OH, you can't teach speed guys now"?

Now I'm pushing for a DE-OLB with that #3 to help the worst defense in the NFL, and I'l bet the old coots go for a QB, why not...its not a real area of need because Fitz was the ONLY highlight from last season.

I think this has just become a waiting game for Bills fans, the guy in charge has been out of it for the last 10 years, and blames the player talent....which of course he is responsible for...but hey! he is making money! :bag:

i picked Dareus...only because i think Fairley will be gone....those two guys are the best two players in this draft.

i do NOT think a franchise QB is in this draft. i would wait and pick my franchise QB in next years draft. we will still be picking top 3 next year too. i do think the Bills will pick a QB in this years draft, just in the second or third round depending how the draft falls.

I'm in 'Bama country this week and have asked about the fans here, that eat, sleep, and drink 'Bama football about Dareus and 9\10 that I asked said he is going to be a bust in the NFL. Emphatically. I was really surprised. I don't know if they know anything about the NFL or are pissed because he left early but that has scared me away from Dareus.

I'm lost now.

That's why I've picked Cam Jordan.

the least amount of question marks and will be a good player. Very smart , has good bloodlines, high motor. Very low bust potential. Next to Kyle Williams will cause lots of havok.

I've watched several highlight clips of Mr Newton and Mr Gabbert and what I need to know is, are these two guys (especially Mr newton) QB's or running backs? I keep trying to find evidence of their passing skills but there's not much out there. I hope the scouts have a lot more tape to look at to determine their passing skills and how well they will transition to the NFL. Also, how mobile was Jim Kelly and what kind of lines did he have and play behind?

Cam Newton was a one read QB, if that receiver was not open, he took off running, he averaged almost 7 yards a carry running last year. very impressive in college, but that will NOT work in the NFL.

Interesting cross-polls would be -

1) Of those who selected Newton, how many also thought we should lose every game so we could draft Andy Luck?

and

2) Of those who selected Newton, how many also pined for Jimmy Clausen, Colt McCoy, Brady Quinn, etc., etc.?

Out of curiosity, did they give any suggestions or reasons why they think he's bust material?
