Survivor: Redemption Island

My prediction: As soon as the last 2 members of the enemy tribe are gone (next 2 weeks) Grant, Phil and Rob's hotties will then vote off Rob.

That will be the turning point in Rob's game, IMO. The ONE decision he needs to be very careful about is the Phillip decision. Right now, you have Phillip talking about how important loyalty is to him. Rob has GOT to be careful not to openly give Phillip a reason to become disloyal. If Rob is smart, he'll ride Phillip's mentality right to the million bucks...I don't think for a minute that Phil will stab Rob in the back unless given ample reason. If Rob is smart enough to realize that, he's golden. But if he starts pissing Phillip off, Phillip will go apeshiit onthe guy lol.

He has to use it before then.... last time to play it is at Final 4 or 5, can't make the Final Tribal with it.

Then there's the question of when the Redemption island Survivor will be brought back, will it be in for the Final 5? All of them will be hell bent to take out Rob, and if turns out to be Matt and Andrea is still around does than team up with another hottie to let Rob go down in flames? I still stand by my early prediction about Grant. As he has shown to be great in physical challenges and seems to be close to Rob that he could be the one to turn the tables on him and have him lose. As great a job Rob's played thus far you have to think eventually he's going to have to lose.

Touche. Like I've said, this is the first Survivor I've watched since its second season. I also watched one season until Rupert was axed.

So it looks like, if it's played, it'll probably have to be at the first cut among the former Yellows, unless Steve or Ralph win an immunity or two.

Definitely a possibility. They may go for Phillip first, just to get him out of there (or perhaps Andrea, if Rob can convince the others to do his bidding since he found out about her disloyalty), but once the remainder Purples are gone Rob has a big target on his back. His alliance with Natalie is going to be key; he needs to keep that strong. And one of them has to win immunities --- and so far since the merge, they've both been right there. Natalie has surprised me in that regard.

Don't you mean, gorilla-sh--?

As I wrote, I think that may have been Phillip's strategy this week. Be the crazy dude that Rob (or whoever) wants to take to the final two. Then hope that the jury will have something else to consider by that time when they're making their votes.

And speaking of the jury.... Anyone wonder what happens when players are in the limbo world of the jury? There's some video of David's first day at Ponderosa.

I don't know about the Matt-Andrea connection. She voted against Matt; it was the one that sent him. That's probably a big part of why he was so shocked. How does he trust her again?

At this point with all of the religion-talk --- Hey, we all get it. He's down with Jesus. That's cool. But why it literally have to be everything says? --- and when he said he doesn't really want to be in the game anymore, I'm really rooting for him to get his wish / God to deliver.

Grant, above anyone else, will have the most to be pissed about if/when Rob's idol makes its appearance. That may be the tipping point. Unless Rob gives it to someone else, which would mitigate it a lot and buy some major loyalty, it's got the potential to be a albatross for him WRT the jury vote.

Even if he lies flat-out, imagine Rob goes up to Grant and says, "Hey, I've been hearing your name being whispered. Now, don't get mad, but I've got something here...." And then he, Grant, and Natalie would, say, pick off Andrea. I think this would probably be the best use of it.

Yeah, that's why he needs an Immunity winning streak. But even if he makes it to the finals,. I don't see anyone in the Loser tribe giving him any votes, they all seem pretty resentful of the power he has.Like tgreg said, he needs to take another public enemy & Phillip with him. .. .a Final 2 with Phillip would be so much easier.

CBS.com: Rob Cesternino's Survivor Blog

5. Rice Capades – I don't really know where to begin with talking about Phillip this week. I know that I certainly don't want to use the c-word to describe Phillip's behavior. However, through all of the histrionics in this episode, one thing is clear: You can no longer make the argument that Phillip is playing a game with any sort of strategy.

Phillip told us last week that his intention was to get Boston Rob to want Phillip next to him at the end of the game. However, at this point Phillip is not showing any signs that winning this game is his objective at all. Phillip is certainly entitled to having an opinion and feeling the way he does but part of being a good Survivor player is occasionally hiding your feelings in the interests of winning the game. Phillip's aggressive behavior has all but assured himself a zero percent chance at the million dollars. Even if Phillip makes it to the final three, he would need five votes to win the game. Considering that there will likely be five Zapatera tribe members on the jury, this incident is going to stick to Phillip like a certain color on rice.

haha, yes, the gorilla version would definitely be more appropriate

Cool find on that video! I often go to the CBS website when I miss an episode, but I've never seen those post-elimination videos. Interesting to see the rice as part of his first meal...I would imagine that sort of helps his system to transition back to real food. It's also interesting to hear his comments about how little he could eat. I always wondered about that, cause when you see them win reward challenges, they often pig out on the food like they are gluttons. It would only be logical to assume how much their stomachs have shrunk after being on the show a week, two weeks, etc...so I wonder if they feel like major crap after they go on one of those binges? lol

The Ponderosa looks like quite the lifestyle, though! And I may be the only one who feels this way, but I thought Dr. Ramona was kinda sexy

Voluntary, self-imposed exile to Redemption Island?

I was thinking of either some other area of the jungle, or even their old camp.

You're not the only one

I do remember contestants saying that after the reward challenge binges, it all went out really fast. I imagine that's especially the case for the greasier foods like the burgers Steve and Phillip had.

Don't worry about Phillip, he's under the Robfather's protection.

Another awesome show, another immunity for Rob... sounds like it might all fall apart next week though. I do feel bad for Russell, you know he's at home watching THE Puppet Master & is absolutely green with envy. :(

Yeah, looks like Phillip's "crazy like a fox!" strategy has worked. If I were Rob, that would be my plan now too. Brilliant move by Phillip. Even if something else develops, they've ALL got to be wanting Phillip at their side in the finale. He may not have a snowball's chance with the jury after what he's pulled, but he'll be there and whatever odds he gets, it's better than zero.

This was a good move by the Survivor execs. Otherwise it would've just been another week of knowing exactly who had the target on their back. This gets us right to the heart of the matter. Next week is a crucial time for Rob. I think Steve, like Stephanie did earlier on, planted a seed in tonight's tribal... Rob's screwed people over before; he'll smile right in your face while he's stabbing you in the back. But, it's going to be a question of how strong that Phillip-->Rob<--Natalie cohesive bond is. Rob put in all their minds over the past few weeks that Andrea is the first former Yellow on the chopping block, and this will probably provide some level of comfort.

Should be an interesting Redemption next week, with 4 competitors, and who knows how many will be eliminated.

Matt's whole schtick of 'I'm not sure' and then the next morning suddenly waking with a new perspective/plan, inspiration from God, etc. is now getting very irritating. He can compete in the challenges, yep, but his biggest failing in the game is not sticking to a plan, or being able to be trusted to do that. People who can't say what they mean and then do what they say are !@#$ useless.

Predictions/scenarios that are worth nothing for next week:

1. Something (injury?) happens to Grant.

2. (My really off the wall prediction/scenario) After next weeks tribal council there will be 5 on RI. Create a 2nd tribe of 5 which completely screws all of Robfather's plans.

I don't know about the second, but it does raise the issue of Survivor being something like Calvinball. It kind of sucks that the show runners seemingly can make things up on the fly to produce --- or at least gently nudge toward --- the outcome they want. Not having an understood set of rules for Redemption Island adds to the drama, sure, but it's like making a six-year-old play Monopoly for the first time without more than "Land on spaces and buy them" as instructions.

The early seasons I saw were not nearly this convoluted.

Am I the only one who is starting to think Crazy Phillip really IS seeing visions of his native american grandfather?

My prediction is that Phillip gets his own reality show. Some classic lines last night, "you can't stand the truth" and "you don't mess with the specialist, it's fruitile". He is just TV gold! I just wish Russell and Phillip would have been together, that would have been interesting. I think there's going to be a big twist next week, there's 4 people on redemption island, it's about time for a big twist...

Can't believe those idiot girls didn't consider taking out Rob. Would have been the PERFECT time. Russell was right, these people just make the game sad.

Yep, in a way, it's EXACTLY what the dumbass tribe did before the merge. They were just so content having Russell gone that they stopped playing the game. They seemingly completely lost sight of any sort of post-merge strategy, and as a result they got picked off one by one. As much as I'm loving seeing Rob have such control over the tribe, what are some of these people thinking?? You have GOT to make a move if you want to win! You can't just get content being in the main clique, cause as the numbers dwindle so do your chances of winning the game. Hell, even Sandra knew that! We need something to stir up some muck, and based on the preview for next week it sure seems like we're gonna get it :D

The more I think about it, the more disgusted it makes me. Those 3 girls, who have done NOTHING the whole game but absolutely bow down to Rob (to the point of demeaning themselves) could have taken over the game and gone to the last 3. Blindside Rob and you have the numbers over the two pairs left over. Take out Grant as soon as possible and get rid of the other 3 the rest of the time. But not only did they not take that opportunity (or, according to the footage shown, even CONSIDER IT), they ran to Rob, curtsied, and told him all about it. :wallbash: This has to be the worst season I've watched.
