Frostbelt City
Does anyone think that the Buffalo Bills franchise is so desperate for money that they need some sort of revenue from uniform sales due to the 2011 lockout? Just speculation.
San Jose Bills Fan
Does anyone think that the Buffalo Bills franchise is so desperate for money that they need some sort of revenue from uniform sales due to the 2011 lockout? Just speculation. There may be something to this. The Bills recent deal to place a logo of the State of New Jersey on their new uniforms looks to be a shameless attempt at generating another revenue stream. Beerball
Does anyone think that the Buffalo Bills franchise is so desperate for money that they need some sort of revenue from uniform sales due to the 2011 lockout? Just speculation. I don't think so. go to bb.com and you won't find hardly a mention about new unis. </sarcasm> Really though...no I don't think the 2 are connected. How many people do you know who are champing at the bit to run out and buy a new Bills jersey?
Chandemonium
I doubt it. I think the jersey sales will largely depend on if there is football or not next year. I can't imagine many people buying clothing that is generally only worn to games if there are no games to go to. Ghost of Rob Johnson
Aren't the owners still getting the television revenue? I don't think they are connected at all. Will be interesting to see if they do the unveiling of the new uniforms before there is a new CBA.

San Jose Bills Fan
Maybe the players washing cars in the OBD parking lot and the wive's bake sale are hints? PTR The rumor is that the Annual Thanksgiving Food Donation run by the Buffalo Bills Wives was diverted from the Food Bank of Western New York into a stockpile of rations for the players and their families in the event of a strike. Jim Kelly has a large outbuilding on his Town of Aurora property and all the food is being kept there to be distributed as needed. Roscoe Parrish and Leodis McKelvin have been chosen as trustees. DrDawkinstein
No, I dont think any NFL franchise is "desperate" for money. Labor stand-off or not, they got tons of cash.

BillnutinHouston
The owners get TV money regardless of whether there's a season or not. Do you think that revenue from new jerseys is even a half a drop in the bucket compared to that TV money? Also... It's a 2 year process for an NFL team to change jerseys - do you really think they set these wheels in motion two years ago in preparation for a work stoppage? Buffalo Barbarian
Probably figured they are going to start a new era of winning so they want new unis.
mrags
Does anyone think that the Buffalo Bills franchise is so desperate for money that they need some sort of revenue from uniform sales due to the 2011 lockout? Just speculation. Well, Nike got the new uniform contract for the NFL and thier uniforms are put together a little differently, so MANY teams will have to make some small changes due to certains lines ans highlights to thier uniforms. I just think this is the Bills Org seeing this as a great opportunity to make defenite changes to a jersey that has not been liked by the fan base since it's inception. UConn James
Licensed apparel income, as of the last CBA at least, is pooled and divided evenly among the 32 teams. Only sales from a team's official store (e.g. the Bills store at the stadium or BB.com) are not included in the pool. It's a chunk of change to be sure, but after paying for designers, stadium signage, compensating for unsold jerseys in the previous design, any profit would probably be negligible, not a new revenue stream. Also, if there is a lockout, if the MLB strike was any indication, apparel sales will nosedive. Edited February 14, 2011 by UConn James

Which they will have to pay back, with interest, if the season is canceled. Also, from everything I've read, uniform changes require one year, not two.
