Chef Jim Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I'm sorry if this is sacrilege, but Whitney Houston was the first step into all this stuff where singers sound like they're undergoing electroshock treatments. My wife says it sounds like they're getting paid by the note.
Just Jack Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Christina Aguilera goofs up the national anthem Perhaps she was too concerned with breaking Patti LaBelle's record for turning single-syllable words into entire paragraphs during the signing of "The Star-Spangled Banner," but noted ex-teen queen Christina Aguilera botched the national anthem something fierce before the Super Bowl. Aguilera started out all right, but she had a problem with the ramparts -- specifically, the "O'er the ramparts we watched" line, which she left out altogether. .. Aguilera tried to make up for it by combining two lines -- "What so proudly we watched," instead of "What so proudly we hailed", but let's just say that it was too late to reverse the error. Twitter blew up, and all Aguilera could do was to oversing every word from there on out, which she most certainly did. At this point, nobody's topping Whitney in Tampa. Ever. ajzepp Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Christina should have never tried to sing it live...that's exactly why so many others pre-record it and then lip sync.
Jim in Anchorage Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I am amazed it has gone this long on this thread and no clever Rape-less-burger remarks.
Pilsner Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 An anti-raping commercial would have promoted interesting comments I'm sure.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 this half time show really sucks
KD in CA Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 What better way to start the thread with a gratuitous Jessica alba photo? I wish she was my halftime entertainment! But I'll settle for being able to fast forward through halftime since I'm 20 minutes behind on the DVR.
Pilsner Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I thought it was good until usher showed up. His performance isn't as good as black eyed peas.
KD in CA Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 At this point, nobody's topping Whitney in Tampa. Ever. It's partly because of that performance that every one of these bimbos now sings it like a cow in labor.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 well at least the GB defensive backs will get time to get some shots etc so they can come back in 2nd half
Just Jack Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I wonder if the dancers get to keep their light up jumpsuits.
yungmack Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 The commercials have been gawd awful (though I got a laugh at the old west Budweiser one). Aguilera stunk it up. The half time show is unwatchable AND unlistenable with the talentless Peas and their karaoke quality girl singer. Best anthem "soul/jazz" version ever? Marvin Gaye in the NBA finals. The game's pretty much fun though.
KD in CA Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Good grief, James Jones has worse hands than Orlando Jones in The Replacements. That's two straight games with a sure TD that he dropped.
Fezmid Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Bad call on the facemask. The refs starting to swing it? Packers can't catch either....
bills44 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 that's at least 3 drops for the GB WRs - 2 of which were long gainers.
KD in CA Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 that's at least 3 drops for the GB WRs - 2 of which were long gainers. The two first half picks disguised the fact that Pittsburgh moved the ball more consistently even in the first half. The Pack has repeatedly let them convert 3d downs and now the drops are now killing them. This looks like a replay of the Baltimore game.

Huge defensive stand by GB on that series, though.
Fezmid Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 The Packers are running out of healthy players.....
boyst Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 This game is more about logic and planning and has been played as much on the sidelines as it has on the field. It is interesting from the coaching standpoint.
