i've been reading as much as possible about all these draft eligable players and without knowing a hell of a lot about them, i am thinking that quinn in the first and phil taylor in the second could be a real nice top of the draft for us. both guys are really big, strong, and athletic. but both have charater issues/question marks. i was just wondering if anyone could fill me in a bit more on these two.

Been saying it for a while and changed my signature to the effect. I think Quinn will be our pick. It's all gut but if this guy has the measureables at the combine that reflect the athleticism that many say he has he will rise up the boards. Some guy has him mocked to go at #6 overall. By the time April comes I think this is our guy.

Quinn was suspended for accepting a free trip to Miami to work out at some special gym and jewelery from an agent. Phil Taylor was arrested in St COllege then suspended and transfered. Not sure why but Im not too worried about either.

Quinn I wish there was more tape of, all there is is that one video on him on Youtube really. Taylor I saw some and I really really like. I would be happy with these two for sure. I really dont know how Quinn projects to OLB though.

Nix has stated that he will avoid one year wonder type players. Quinn is certainly in that category and his wonderful year was not even this one. Unless Nix changes his philosophy or has it changed for him, we won't be drafting Quinn.

I'd pass on Quinn...the whole 1 good year thing...I'd rather have Jordan out of Cal, especially after his performance in Mobile, where he was a one man wrecking crew and NO ONE could stop him, even with double teams.

Taylor, on the other hand isat the tippy top of my wish list. He's a BEAST. He got in a little trouble @ Penn State for a fight and got booted after a sophomore performance where he played in a reserve role and racked up 20 tackles, 6.5 for a loss and 3 sacks. Sits out 2008 in compliance with NCAA transfer rules and plays in 12 games, starting 9 for Baylor where he put up similar #'s and added an interception 2 blocked kicks and a fumble recovery. As 5th yr sr. he dominated and his teammates looked to him as a leader and he kept his nose clean for his final couple years of college.

Either way, I like us trading out of the top 10 and picking up an additional second with it going like this:

Round 1: Jordan, DE/OLB, Cal

Round 2a: Taylor

Round 2b: Luke Stocker, TE, Tenn. Mark my words, this kid is gonna be a GREAT TE in the NFL.

I hope to God Taylor is there in the second for us and that we are smart enough to draft him. There are many great DEs in this draft. If we don't get one we are retarded

Wasn't Quinn a 2 year starter at NC? He was suspended his junior year and forewent his senior year? He has won awards and trophies not that that is any guarantee of anything but at least it means you don't completely suck. Unless the guy would have taken an enormous step back his junior and senior year I think he would have continued to play at a high level. Not only continued but built upon his great start. It is entirely possible that this guy would be in the conversation for #1 overall if he played this year. The guy is already ranked as high as #6. How is that even possible that he is so highly regarded and didn't play? It might be by an incredible stroke of luck that this guy might be available to us at #3. All wild speculation of course but that is how I am looking at it right now.

The combine will tell.

I don't care if he plays OLB when we run the 3 - 4 or a DE when we run the 4 - 3. The guy is GOOD!!! Think Brian Orakpo. People kept talking about 3-4, 4-3 blah blah blah. Not saying this guy is or plays anything like Orakpo but don't get hung up on DE vs LB. All he did was post double digit sacks his rookie year and was a beast.
