BillsVet
OK. He went to Hawaii this year playing out of a 3-4 because? A Pro Bowl selection is an individual award, and Williams is deserving as an alternate. But the defense which he's a 34 NT on, gave up a shade under 170 yards rushing per which ranked dead last in the NFL by 15 yards. If the Bills are going to be a team that can stop the run with a 34, they need a different type of player.
3rdand12
As sad as it is Kelsay is our best DE in a 4-3 alignment and williams is our best DL and best in a 4-3 as a DT so I can see why we want to go to a 3-4. I say draft Dareus and play him , troup, Willams and kelsay and rotate in Edwards and some other big guy, ie Carrington and go with it. Has to be better than what weve been like. Since a smart defensive coach will look at his strengths ( Kyle ) at gap tech, it would be wise for us to draft around him a little. I have high hopes for troup to be very strong in the middle and carrington to come along well also. Edwards if healthy brings some decent play at end. We know we can move williams around and get great production out of him. That why he got the PB alt. He can play ball. I read a great link from here about a Buddy Ryan 3-4 and all the gap techs inside of that. I think Dareus can start and be effective right away. But his ability to move around on the line of scrimmage will make kyle evn better yet. If we are still in hybrids for a year or two, and i think we might be, off the 3-4 basic theories, we need a some men with enough range till we get settled down and see what the line backers can do for us. Its all about the filling the gaps!
Geno Smith's Arm
I wrote a little skit. It's based on a true story. The setting is the Pacific Northwest 1984. GM: "We need a big man! We will never win the big one, until we get a big man. They are rarer than hen's teeth, but this year there is one, and if we are lucky we will have a shot at the kind of player that we can build a dynasty around." Dissenting voice (Jack Ramsey?): "I don't know this Jordan kid, is a guard, but he looks pretty good, I like his drive." GM: "Nonsense, we just drafted Drexler, now we need the center piece." When you get a pick up at the top of the draft, you HAVE to take the best guy. I hope the best guy is a front-7 defensive player, but if it's the receiver Green I won't shed a tear. The rest of the picks they can draft for need, but in that top 5 or so, you gotta pick the cherries.
Geno Smith's Arm
I agree with the bolded 100%. But, the need for improvement at the OT and TE positions is also absolutely crucial. I am about the Bills offering Kevin Boss a huge contract with lots of guaranteed money. And, if the Bills were able to trade down AND get a quality OT, the team would instantly improve. But, if they view someone like Mallett to be a franchise QB, I think they should grab him and not look back. Jmo. I completely disagree that a TE is "crucial". I think that if they feel a strong need to upgrade these positions, they will find a free agent somewhere, or hope to find a guy with one of the other picks (not in the 1st rd). They probably won't get "the best tight end in the league" or "a RT that anchors the right side of the line for a decade" this way, but I think (and hope) that they are thinking more along the lines of "A QB that lead the franchise to multiple consecutive playoff berths" or "a DE that led the league in sacks for 4 straight seasons). Why do I think and hope that they are going to take this approach? Because an elite QB and D-lineman ARE crucial.

I don't think adjusting the bolts on his neck would make him any faster.

I'm a Kevin Boss fan as well; however, I suggest you check out Luke Stocker from Tennessee. I think this kid is gonna be special.
