If there is a lockout that is not resolved prior to the draft, teams will not be allowed to trade players or draft choices. So, anybody hoping the Bills trade down should be praying for the labor situation to be resolved prior to draft day

good, thought we had no options, not that we trade back much. When was the last time we traded back in the first round?

2001

Doesn't the current CBA expire after the 2011 draft?

Q. When does the CBA expire should there be no extension to the agreement?

A. In March of 2011.

Adam Brandt from National Football Post said on Twitter in reply to a question about teams trading draft picks: "If lockout, no signing or trading, but there will be a draft"

That's the first time I've seen this years picks mentioned.

Cannot trade draft picks for players, or players for draft picks, but draft picks for draft picks is all good.

good. The draft without any trades would be a lot less interesting.

Do you know if they can trade this years picks for next years picks?

Theoretically yes. After march 3 the owners could declare an impasse and implement whatever rules they want. I can't imagine they'd restrict such trades, but everything is in play. After declaring an impasse and implementing new contractual rules the teams could go ahead and start up the FA and off-season program. Of course the players will likely strike at that point....or sue.
