bills1960
"ESPN BUF: Ralph Wilson on Bills draft plan: 'If there's not a QB at NO. 3 we like, we're not going to reach.'" Nothing ground breaking but what was the purpose of that comment? Does this mean that there willingness to take a QB has gone done since Luck's decision or does it mean that they have someone in mind who they don't feel would be a reach? Opinions? (sorry if this was already posted, didn't see it anywhere.) To me, it sounds like a case of Mr Wilson acknowledging that his "football people" will decide who is drafted with the #3 pick, and not him. If you recall, about midway through the season, right before the Bills won their first game, Mr Wilson was interviewed and he said the team would be drafting a QB. Well, funny thing happened after that, Ryan Fitzpatrick put together a decent season, and emerged in the eyes of many (not all) as a legit starting NFL QB, as opposed to a stop-gap solution to the problem at the position. Soon we had Chan Gailey publicly endorsing Fitzpatrick as his starter going into 2011. The fact that Luck, seemingly the only consensus top 5 QB prospect, is not coming out in the draft, this seems to me, that Mr Wilson is backing off of his earlier comments. He is saying, essentially, there is no QB worth taking with the third pick in the draft, so it would seem the Bills will address the need (if they see it as one) later in the draft, or possibly, by trading down... It's called he's letting the man he hired to do the job of drafting & over seeing team business do the job he was hired to do instead of being Al Davis like and sticking his nose where it doesn't belong like when he fired Pollian ---- same thing !! 1B4IDie
The story is simple In October Ralph said we are drafting a QB. In January he said we are talking the best player. End of story.
