nuklz2594 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 i don't live north anymore. i have heard nothing about levi brown, other than he was cut. he sniveled and then re-signed. can he play qb at all? saw that nix wants to draft a qb. seems like we are constantly drafting qb. does brown have the potential to contribute?
Rayzer32 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 With some time with the right teacher he could be a decent back-up I think. He definitely has the strongest arm on the team and the best size of the three there now. Also has decent mobility. If he can figure out how to read NFL defenses, he will be a good QB. He is worth keeping as a third stringer going into camp.

The guy was cut, then brought back in because we cut Trent Edwards. He was 7th round fodder and just fills a roster spot. Bottom line. The Bills only have 1 QB on the roster. Meaning: We NEED A QB!!!!!!

The Bills only have 1 QB on the roster. Meaning: We NEED A QB!!!!!! To paraphrase Ernie Banks: Let's get two. With only 1 QB on the roster, we need to fill both the 2nd & 3rd string slots, or it may be 1 & 3 with the eventual demotion of Fitz to 2nd string.
Ramius Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 My best guess is that 4 QBs will be brought to camp, with Fitz being the starter, and a mid-round pick, Brohm, and Brown battling for the final 2 spots.
Green Lightning Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Brohm's done. I think Brown deserves a better look. Has size, arm and needs some game reps to see if he's got the smarts and instincts. So to answer the OP, we really don't know.

I, for one, am a Fan. He's got all the physical attributes that make a prototypical NFL QB...size, arm strength, mobility, etc. It's all the intangibles that are up in the air and will only be answered with a decent look at playing time. Remember the 2 minute drill he executed last preseason...pretty good, just sayn'. I think he's a guy that needs an injury to the guy in front of him to get any kind of significant playing time, and he could shine...or bust for that matter. Time will tell. For all we know, he could be the Next Tom Brady. Edited January 26, 2011 by Armchair GM

He thinks they can win with Fitz, but did not say he is a franchise QB. I think they pick a QB in rounds 1-3 and would not be the least bit surprised if is in the 1st.
The Cincinnati Kid Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I like Levi. Thats just based on his Bowl Game at Troy and Pre-Season, but to me he looks good. I also really like Ricky Stanzi from Iowa. I think that guy will be a really solid NFL starting QB.

I think you're right. Question: can Brown still be on the Practice Squad if Brohm somehow improves, and a new draftee joins? I know there are rules about how many games a player can play, but didn't know if they have to be onfield or what the rules are for inactive vs. active players.
reddogblitz Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I liked him after the Troy Bowl Game. All the hype going into that game was Dan Lefevre (or whatever his name is). But Levi looked better. In pre season he looked very green. didn't get to see his play in the NY game. I'd like to see us sign a FA like Alex Smith or Troy Smith or Tavaris Jackson or Marc Bulger to back up Fitz and keep Brown. Unless we find someone better.
DanInSouthBuffalo Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I hope they keep him around since they have invested time in him already.

I know there are rules about how many games a player can play, but didn't know if they have to be onfield or what the rules are for inactive vs. active players. From what i found, player are eligible for the practice squad if they've played in 9 or less career games, and if they have NOT been on the active roster for an entire season. I believe the final counts as high only game, so he should be eligible for the practice squad next season.
BuffaloFan68 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I agree with Armchair GM. Levi seems to have it all except for a chance to prove it in the NFL. From what I have seen, we should keep him over Brohm. Levi is the biggest reason why I wouldn't be totally upset is Buffalo didn't draft another QB.
Nostradamus Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Brohm's done. I think Brown deserves a better look. Has size, arm and needs some game reps to see if he's got the smarts and instincts. So to answer the OP, we really don't know. He threw an out pattern in his cameo appearance against the Jets that really caught my attention. It was about a 20 yard out to the sideline that he delivered with great velocity, good timing, and it was right on the money to the receiver as soon as he came out of his break. Yes, it was just one pass, but there are starters in the league that can't make that throw.

Dr. Trooth Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 does brown have the potential to contribute? Yes... he is a great QB for the scout team. He holds a clipboard very well and keeps Fitz company when the D is on the field (which is usually a very long time on Sunaday's). Brohm was bad. Levi was "worser" than Brohm.

I think they are hiding Brown on the bench until the offensive line is better, the running game improves, we get another really good receiver, a pass rush specialist, and a couple real good linebackers. Then it's "Tom Brady the Second" time baby! He is a monster talent just waiting to explode! I have picked him up in all five of my keeper leagues!

AxelRipper Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Other than some miscommunications, he looked a TON better than Brohm vs the jests.... but thats not saying much. I'd like to think he could be a good QB in another year or so when we're ready to move on from Fitz, but I'm not holding my breath.
