Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 this right here is why bad teams stay bad. didnt they just switch to the 3-4, now back to the 4-3 once they started to get to the point that they had the personnel needed? acquire talent, castoff talent, overpay in draft picks to reacquire new talent, switch back to original scheme, castoff talent Not only did they switch to a 4-3, but their 3-4 was beginning to get darn good under Rob Ryan. I'm listening to WIP (Philly Sports radio)two days ago and they were hopeful to land Jauron as their Defensive Coordinator here for the Eagles. Had to chuckle to my self over that one. They were complaining about how the iggles D was too timid and not attacking under Sean McDermott (their former DC), and Jauron is a well-respected Defensive Mind. Man, I almost drove off the road. They don't know what they don't know. One man's trash is another man's defensive coordinator.

Guys.....your fired head coaches around the league whether they be offensive or defensive were usually a really good coordinator at one time.....who didnt do so well at the next level of the coaching. When in their field of expertise....they excel
Adam Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 How on earth is Jauron even still in the NFL? Cleveland was 10-6 about 3 years ago with Cronnel as coach. They had a pretty deep roster, an dtraded away every good player they had to Denver (with the exception of Brady Quinn for Hillis) and NY Jets. As bad as we have been , take heart that Cleveland is much worse off and now headed in an even worse direction...The hiring of Jauron and then bringing in a washed up Jake Delhomme says it all. I cant believe anyone would hire Jauron, even to be the water boy. What a loser. Wannstedt was a great hire for the Bills...He's a real pro. Nix must have told Wannstedt we are taking a defensive player at #3 and he can pick the guy to get him on board.... This makes me laugh. Mike Holmgren has the Browns heading in the right direction. Neither Quinn, nor Anderson was any good, and getting rid of Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow was the right move.

In what world is it bad to have a prototypical #1 receiver or a TE who can haul in 60+ catches for 700+ yards? I buy that neither of those QBs were good, but jury is out on McCoy (who I do kind of like, but probably not in Cleveland weather).

Braylon Edwards dropped two many easy passes and stirred things up too much. Winslow was very confrontational and since he has been gone, the staph infection problem has been gone as well.

Cleveland can have them both. Yes, but, Donte may find it a little harder to screw the Browns out of as much dough as he has been trying to get from the Bills.

Now that DW is in Buffalo, they are REALLY happy they got Jauron instead! Meanwhile, here everyone is praising Allah over a guy the Browns didn't want! Hilarious...football fans are hilarious.

Could some players be available that might not fit? Shaun Rogers, D-Qwell Jackson, etc.? They actually have some decent defenders over there. Thoughts? Are they switching to a 34? If so I would take Rogers in a heart beat,also LB Matt roth,LB Scott Fugita,LB Chris Gocong, can we have Peyton Hillis too ,

Freeman uses the kid all the time. In 2 years in Tampa, Winslow has averaged 72 catches for 800 yards and 5 TDs per season. You're telling me that Colt McCoy doesn't need that kind of potential at the TE position? Not to mention that winslow has grown up and matured down there as well. As for the staph problems, that was organizational. There were a handful of other players besides winslow that got staph. Whitner to Cleveland? Calling it here. Kelsay & McKelvin for #1 + #2 picks? GaryPinC Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I wouldn't mind picking up Rogers if he gets cut. When interested he's about as impactful as it gets from the inside. To get competitive in this division they have to hit big on some low investments in personnel. I'm not in love with the idea of drafting DL very early in the first round to stock a 3-4. Not that the top talents in this draft aren't DL, they probably are. But part of the advantage of the 3-4 is that you don't need the elite athletes to play the DL and you can get excellent results using players that might not even be on the radar of a 4-3 team. Look at the Jets DL. It's Shaun Ellis and a bunch of role players. You can also take advantage of the fact that there are always more tweener DE/OLB's than there are quality DE's. You can find those type of players anywhere in the draft. It's just easier to stock a 3-4. If I were a Browns fan I would be pissed, chances are that it's going to take a few years to find the athletes for the DL to make a 4-3 front work. Problem is he's seldom interested anymore. I hear even before Mangini got fired that he's interested in a change of scenery. I'd rather see Kyle Williams in there, Rogers seems to like the salary but not the game.

If we deal McKelvin, who exactly is going to play CB for us? Winslow is a hell of a player, but liked to complain about all the pain his knee was in and seemed to always be dinged up on the Browns. The guy brought it on himself when he crashed his bike hot-dogging with it in a parking lot. Browns could have paid him next to nothing as he sat out but decided to be generous and pay a decent portion of his contract. He plays the game the right way but was bucking for a new contract with 2 years left on his and given his knee condition, propensity for getting injured, and how he liked to complain to the papers about it, I don't blame the Browns for cutting him loose. At that time everyone was wondering how many years of productive play they could get out of him. Colt seems to do well with Ben Watson and Evan Moore.

What part of "suck" don't the Browns get? What part of "Kelsay was extended by new regime" don't you get? You realize the run defense regressed badly from 2009, correct?
