dayman
In that picture he looks like he was just in a fire and his face almost melted off. He is "head turning" ugly now. Hopefully I live to be that ugly. Edited January 19, 2011 by dayman

BuffaloBillsForever
Al Davis and Mr. Wilson have a lot in common. 1) They go back to the AFL and the merger. 2) They are meddling owners which only hurts the team. 3) They are old. 4) Their franchises have been in disarray for a number of years. The only thing they don't have in common is Al Davis likes to throw his ex-employees under the bus at press conferences. You never see Mr. Wilson do that, ERRR except for Tom Donahoe. 26CornerBlitz
Al sounded really bad (as in out of touch) when the Raiders held a presser to introduce Hue Jackson as the new HC.

What did he do to Donahoe? Are you just referring to when he said we have no talent early this year?
BuffaloBillsForever
Al sounded really bad (as in out of touch) when the Raiders held a presser to introduce Hue Jackson as the new HC. It was deja vu all over again, like the presser to introduce Tom Cable. What did he do to Donahoe? Are you just referring to when he said we have no talent early this year? No. The press conference when he announced he fired Donahoe as GM. Many years ago. Edited January 19, 2011 by BuffaloBillsForever
BillsFan-4-Ever
I said this in another thread (which may have prompted this one) Comparing old Ralph Wilson to old Al Davis. It's like standing Bob Newhart next to a Zombie from "Dawn of the living dead". bandaids and bloodshot eyes Scary looking dude Will he (Al)be on an upcomming episode of House? nemhoff
...and then they fired their coach because he brought his girlfriend on the road with him. That's my point, the Raiders were actually turning things around...finally (although I do have to admit faster than Buffalo has), and then they fire the coach that is leading the turnaround. Gabe Northern
just remember whenever you think the Bills organization is sucking it up, imagine being a Raider's fan Yeah -- it would suck to have an 81 year old running your 8-8 team with decent talent on both sides of the ball. JohnC
Are you just referring to when he said we have no talent early this year? He says that every three years. He doesn't even have to resort to his notes because he has that response down pat.
BEAST MODE BABY!
Al Davis is 81. Regis Philbin is 80. Something went horribly, horribly wrong with Al Davis somewhere along the line.
DrDawkinstein
3 of my 4 grandparents are still alive. The youngest is 88, the oldest is 94. They ALL look MUCH better than Davis, exponentially so. I have to imagine it was too much of that California sun, and too many cigarettes (I believe he was/is a smoker, correct?) gobillsinytown
I don't know if this is a significant difference, but Al's title is "Managing General Partner". I would assume that there are other people who have an ownership stake in the team but don't have management priveledges. Al seems to be a lot more involved in the day to day operation of the team than Ralph is. Al has direct say in draft picks, assistant coaches, etc. I'm not sure that Ralph gets involved to that level. The interesting thing about this topic is that Ralph floated Al something like a 30 thousand dollar loan in the early 60's so that Al could invest in a franchise for Oakland.
