Amstel Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I just read this article (see link below) and found it interesting that former dolphins are saying a lot of the same things about them as we say and ex-Bills say about our team. Nick Buoninconti said the Bills are ahead of the dolphins because of Ryan Fitzpatrick...... http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/01/12/2011690/former-dolphins-bemoan-state-of.html
DrDawkinstein Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nick Buoniconti People talk about a two-year plan. If you're lucky, it's a five-year plan because they don't have the ingredients to rise above the Patriots and Jets, and the Bills are ahead of them because of Ryan Fitzpatrick. There it is, folks. Everyone knows that if you want to build a team to be a winner for years to come, that it TAKES years to get there. Same thing Buddy has been saying since he got here. Dont expect the playoffs in 2011, but we're at least on a path to get there eventually. Just need to keep building, and retain some players so we dont have to keep RE-building.

What exactly has been built by Nix and Gailey after one year into their regime? Moats? Merriman? The loss of Whitner and likley Poz is going to create two more holes on a team that looks like swiss cheese already. Outside of switching to a 3-4 defense (and not having the personnel to run it) I see no sign of progess or rebuilding.

Like them or not, it's the first time in a long time that the Bills actually had football people making the decisions, instead of the Brandon, Levy, Jauron circus. It will take time to undo the damage done by them, but it today's "I want it now" mentality, they must be failures.........
Heitz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Interesting perspective on Gruden: "For those wondering why Miami didn't do whatever it took to get Bill Cowher, the Dolphins only had strong interest in an offensive-minded coach and Cowher's forte is defense. Though Jon Gruden's background is on offense, the Dolphins weren't interested. One NFL official (not with Miami) said this is a concern for some teams: Gruden wants a lot of money, isn't strong on personnel decisions and can quickly change his mind on players, which can be frustrating for his personnel people."
KRT88 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 The amazing part if how NE has won now but still collected the 3 extra top 3 round picks, planning for the future. Imagine, they might have the last pick of day #1 and the first pick of day #2 in the draft. Like they need 3 picks in the top 33, but they have it! Instead we draft a RB so we can trade the RB we already have for a 4th, when we drafted that guy, to replace the RB we had when we already had a good one then too (Henry to MaGahee to Lynch to Spiller). Why draft for needs when you can replace what you already have. and we are better off?
