Just listening to him being interviewed you could see how his men would follow his lead.

I just finished reading the book a month ago after seeing the TV series a couple of years ago. He seemed to be a great man who was humble at the same time brave in his service. He made such a big difference in World War II. RIP Major Winters.

Peace Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I did not read the book but the mini-series is one of the greatest things ever done for TV. The story lent itself to long-form miniseries. It was a million times better than The Pacific, and the end-of-show interviews made me tear up every time.
