dave mcbride Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Effort doesn't give you more than a 4th rounder. We only got a 4th rounder because Lynch has never averaged more than 4.1 a carry in a season. Oh, and since being traded he only averages 3.5 a carry, which is awful. He has been consistently below average, and if he were on the trade block today I don't know if anyone would even give up a 4th. It was one run, albeit absolutely amazing, but it doesn't change the fact that he's been a consistently below average running back every single year of his career, and the Bills made out on that trade. As I mentioned above, Lynch led the NFL in ypc after the first hit in 2009. Sometimes other things factor into a ypc average, ya know??
San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 As I mentioned above, Lynch led the NFL in ypc after the first hit in 2009. Sometimes other things factor into a ypc average, ya know?? That's true, Dave. But some of those "other things" include his lack of vision and lack of instincts. Lynch can defeat tacklers with his strength, but not with his ability to find holes…which is below average IMO.
Cadidliac Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I dont understand why people cannot be happy for lynch without slamming the bills..... - Lynch is a power back that breaks tackles with ZERO vision.......when we traded him to Seattle he did exactly what he did here.....ran hard and broke tackles. On this particular play he made a huge play.....good for Marshawn. - Lets keep in mind that when Marshawn was here he got into trouble....TWICE.....was one infraction away from a lengthy suspension......and made it clear he did not want to be in Buffalo.....Buffalo did what it could to....traded him out for what looks to be a decent 4th round pick (we could take that pick and package with another....moving up into the third perhaps getting a decent linebacker. - Can we PLEASE give Spiller another year to show his worth and not slam him as a rookie? I just never understood slamming rookie players......and no CJ doesnt break tackles because his game is blinding speed. I couldn't have typed a better response to this thred if I tried. Why DO people slam a rookie? Or a first year starting QB on a new team/new offense? Championships teams are not built overnight. Nor in less than a decade if you are a Bills fan.
Thunderstealer Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 That run could be a turning point for him. It's the kind of run he's capable of when he sees the hole, hits it, and runs downhill. In the past, all you ever saw him to do was dance around, shuffle his feet, and get 2 yards. Hopefully, now he'll try running north-south more. Hasselbeck with that little block in the back at the end of Lynch's run was slight, but definitely could've been called. Glad it wasn't, but what an idiot.
AReed Deep For 7 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 He broke like 867 tackles on that run. When did he ever break one in Buffalo? How can that even be said? He has always been a hard runner, who doesn't go down on first contact. Look up a marshawn highlight video to refresh your memory
billsfreak Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Totally disagree with you as does billsphan, seattle won the game yesterday but were a piss poor team all year that was so undeserving of the playoffs and especially a home game. They would have got smoked if it were in New Orleans and will get smoked next week likewise! This hardly ever happens probably never happened a team with a losing record making the playoffs that is, especially winning a division and as bad as the nfc west has been in the past somwhow it got way worse this season. The giants and tampa bay are sitting home today at 10-6 playing a much tougher schuedule than a lousy 7-9 team that won yesterday. I obviously didn't watch the games, i have had the nfl ticket since it came out and i missed one half of bills football this year while traveling for the holidays, Fred had 3-4 drops this year i will admit that but since he has been here he has been a hell of a receiving back, do you disagree with that? What gets me is that a fan that knows nothing about how hard i follow the bills' would question this, your right with one point he had more drops than i can remember this year, so you think ML is a better receiving back and has been when they were together with the bills, if your answer is yes then maybe you haven't watched enough bills football. I too have had the NFL ticket for about 9-10 years, and myself I didn't miss a single play this year of Bills football (as tough as it was at time, it was paid for), and I can pretty much guarantee he dropped more than 3-4 passes this year. I like Jackson alot, and love the effort he puts out running the ball and the leadership he shows, but I still contend that receiving isn't his strong suit, in fact it may be his biggest weakness along with punching the ball up the middle at the goal line. I didn't say ML was a better receiver (didn't say he wasn't either), was just replying to the fact that you stated how good of a receiving back Jackson was.

The 3-4 i guessed on were off he had 8 a previous poster looked it up, but he had 31 receptions and i'll admit his receiving wasn't as good this year. In previous years i tend to disagree though as i remember it, fred was a very good receiving back i hope this is just not a figment of my imagination and i'll admit i am biased he's one of my favorite players' on the team!
Dan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Lynch's run caused an earthquake in Seattle. Pretty awesome, if you think about it.
Clippers of Nfl Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) I didn't watch the game or this run until just now on espn. What a bogus piece of cap everyone is making this run out to be. This is nothing short of what he has done when he was in Buffalo and it really wasn't that impressive. The Saints couldn't tackle for s$&t, and that stiff arm was weak!!! He didn't "throw" or "shove", or "push" Porter off of hi. Like many have said on this board. I was expecting to see an Earl Campbell type run with a sick stiff arm in it. He barely touched Porter and stopped while doing it at the same time that Porter was really just backpeddling. I remember watching Travis Henry stiff arm defenders into the concrete under the turf. FYI with as average as I thught this run was, it's still the best run of his career and he will NEVER do anything like it again. Fact is still that Lynch didn't do crap all year for the Hawks and had 1 good run during an important game and everyone blows a gasket. What a joke some people are in this board. He showed he didn't deserve to be here as Freddy was better (even though he was older) and we were able to get something for nothing. He is the reason why we suck. Because we pick sub par talent and hang on to them too long and expect them to be better than they really are, just like Poz, Whitner, Kelsey, Schobel, McGee (smart move to let Greer walk considering Terrance hasn't played in more than about 8 games a year since he left), Evans, Stroud, Mitchell, etc....... I could go at this all day with current and previous players that we (buffalo fans and FO) think are better than they really are. They finally got something for the pot smoking, gun toting, drunk driving, Canadian hitting, vehicle manslaughtering POS and I'm happy. He won't be finishing next season anyway. It's only a matter of time before he gets in trouble again. He's a dumb f$&k!!!!!! I can't believe many if you can't see this. Ugh!!!!! i dont get this post at all. he makes the play of his career and he gets slammed??? by the way the stiff arm made the defender jump back a couple of yards. a PROFESSIONAL PLAYER GOT PUSHED BACK 3-5 YARDS. I would like to see you do that. watch the highlight again if you dont believe me. i watched the full game. on that play AT THAT TIME, he won the game for them. the seahawks had zero momentum on that 2nd down play. most likely they would have punted and the saints win the game. plain and simple. I take it you didnt see a lot of seahawk games. he had a 3 td game and on his first couple games he was praised a lot. he had a lot of tough yards. its not his fault his oline sucks 10 times worse than ours. its also not his fault that the play calling was so predictable defenses knew they would give the ball to him and put up 9 in the box. im not saying bring him back. whats done is done. but do you appreciate the sport??? its the playoffs and he did his thing. oh and are you talking about yourself? tennesseeboy Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Earth to tennesseeboy - It's the PLAYOFFS. If your lover were still on The Bills, he never would have made that run. He'd have been tippin' his whip in sunny CA yesterday, or playing with his W Oh..the playoffs....Buffalo Bills...Lynch in the playoffs, Greer in the playoffs, Peters in the playoffs, McGahee in the playoffs....Bills home on the couch...a point well taken....
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 OMG... How could the Bills have traded Lynch? He's the greatest rb ever.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 What I did notice is how similar McGahee and Lynch "dance" at the line of scrimmage.
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 What I did notice is how similar McGahee and Lynch "dance" at the line of scrimmage. Very true. They both did that quite a bit. Most of the good rbs hit the hole hard & then make a quick cut. That's why Willis & Lynch will only be average rbs at best. This was a good trade especially knowing what I know about ML. He's a ticking time bomb.
