i looked at film of miller and thot he was 2 maybinesque. too skinny to beat any actual lineman. if we get him, hope i'm wrong. now quinn OTOH, seems a lot more substantial. 270# seems a lot more like what u got to have to get it done.

Fairly Or Dareus need to be our first over all . With Batten coming back thats like another pick plus Merriman if he's healthy and Nix & Gailey are sure to find a UDFA in the mix some where. We need up front pressure !!

We all saw what we got this year when Schobel went out of the mix , at least last year we had some picks from his pressure !!

That's what I was thinking. I expected to see a beast in a big bowl game but I don't think Miller even ran plays down will. Seemed to give up on a play quickly. Looked small and he didn't use his speed well. Took a lot of bad angles, didn't cover well and missed big plays. I did notice he had good pass rushing skills but IMO we need defenders good against the run and pass. He may look good against some inferior competition or on certain plays but he didn't look good play to play. We also need consistent players.

I also watched Peterson and he didn't blow me away either, although he looked far better, especially on returns. I can see why people like Peterson's potential on LSU. Not that we need him.

While many will argue Miller is a reach at #3, he's a very good football player and represents the very best this draft has to offer at the 3-4 OLB position.

17 sacks last year. 10 this year despite an injury early in the season. The Butkus award winner has a bright future.

I used to like the idea of Miller but after watching him extensively I am running away. He looked horribly Maybin-esq last night. He was small and didnt use his hands worth a damn. he techinique was pretty horric IMO, turning his back to the blocker as he got steamrolled out of the hole. This guy is a huge liabilty vrs the run and I dont think he will be much of a pass rusher. He didnt give any effort on his backside pursuit either. He now gets a big NO from me.

I think Von Miller projects as an ILB in the NFL. He is maybe 240 and maybe 6-2.

Basically he is maybe 5 pounds heavier and 2 inches shorter than Maybin. (no matter what Maybin is listed at he looks 235 to me)

I like my OLBs to be solidly at or over 250.

An NFL LT can rag doll Von Miller.

I think the kid will perform well in the NFL but he is the Same size as Poz and smaller than Moats he wouldn't be able to be a rush backer in the NFL. Definitely no where near #3 overall.

Mason Foster in the 3rd or 4th is a better value for ILB.

If they take Patrick Peterson over Marcell Dareaus or Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet (Fairely will be gone) I would lose it. I'd have to go buy a Tampa Bay jersey and jump on that bandwagon.

Patrick Peterson will have a great NFL career and it will be extended because he has the size and tacking ability to play safety once he loses a step but, lord-a-mercy not another DB!

I think Miller projects to weakside in a 4-3 scheme. His best asset seems to be speed/quickness and I think the only way to make use of him is to keep blockers off him. He has a lot of Maybin in him.

Peterson looked like total crap to me. He was giving enourmous cushins and was being owned by that mysterious #8. When a guy you have never heard of is tourching the best DB its not a good sign. They were specifically targeting that matchup. He looks more like a safety to me, and I had to ask myself "Would anyone even be talking about this guy if he didnt return kicks?" I think he made a name for himself returning the ball and people now assume he is a better CB than he really is. I think that happened to McKelvin too.

This Peterson kid is not impressing me at all.

In fact, at one point they were targeting him! I tried an open mind with this kid going into this game but NO THANKS

Yep - he would be the dumbest draft pick we could have.

I noticed that too and it really shocked me. He basically gave up on any plays away from his side and just jogged in the general direction. Very disappointing. Its not like I'm watching OLB on backside pursuit all the time, but I have focused on OLB before. Von Miller really just gave up on the backside pursuit time and time again.

Peterson . . . He looks more like a safety to me,. . .

I felt the same way, the whole game I thought, "This guy looks like a safety. He is giving huge cushions. What is he doing out there? What kind of prevent scheme is this?"

The silly scouting reports call him a "shutdown corner" he displayed very little coverage ability in the Cotton Bowl. Maybe he had an off game but if you think of the Auburn game, his only memorable plays are very safety-ish plays where he tracked people down and stopped them from getting in the endzone.

I would feel even worse if the Bills drafted Patrick Peterson after watching that game.

Agreed. As others have said, reminded me of Maybin way too much for my liking.

I think being a good pass rusher is more about speed, strength and leverage than size. How else could you explain Elvis Dumervil or Freeney? But...coulf the Bills take another OLB so soon after Maybin? The Bills D-Line sucks.

Dumervil is 250 and Freeney is 270.

I'm telling you, Von Miller is way too small to be a dominate OLB worthy of top 10 pick.

Yes maybe we can play weak side OLB in a 4-3 like someone stated, but why would you draft a weak side 4-3 OLB that high? You take a 4-3 DE like Bowers in the first not a Von Miller.

Thats the major point, if you're going to draft a first round LB he should be a big, bad nasty rush LB, that can power or finance a Tackle.

Von Miller is a little speed rusher that gives up on backside pursuit not first round worthy.

Yep, if he was the next Ware or Biscuit, that would be one thing. But this guy looks more like the next Ellison.

PP started the season as a world beater, but has slipped a little in returns and coverage. Could be tape on him, could be an injury.... Could be better late season opponents. Watch more then just last night and he's very impressive. I hope this debate is purely academic, not relevant to buffalo. I'd compare him to Charles Woodson if I had to pick an NFL player he would aspire to emulate the career of.

That said, Dallas is his dream team. Gross.

Finance a tackle? Do you know how expensive that is nowadays? Especially left tackles?

Well played, sir!!

resign george Wilson, let Whitner walk, and resign Florence. Then completely ignore all the DBs in this draft. Do the same for RB and WR.

Kudos for calling that out. If a rookie LB can finance a LT by himself he doesn't need football or he is way overpaid.

But if he could finesse, speed, and power an LT he'd be worth a 1st.

Quinn listed at 254lbs unless he's gained some while on his suspension.

270 on NC's site.

I actually am afraid of him at #3 I think it's risky however. If you see him on YouTube there is no way he is 250.
