84-year-old Hugh Hefner

It's good to be Hef .... though at 84 you have to wonder if the girl is just waiting to collect his fortune.

I don't think there is much wondering that needs to be done. 23 year old gorgeous blondes don't marry an 84 year old if they don't have money.

I'm sure Hugh will compensate her generously for all her ' affection ' - but also think Hef is smart enough to know what an iron-clad pre-nup is.

I feel bad for her.

If anyone has seen the interviews the first three girls gave since leaving the mansion you will find out how miserable the life is; and obviously, to her this is a business move.

I am sure she'll get min $250k for each year, otherwise, why do it? She knows it, he knows it, we know; so in reality, who cares? Hugh Hefner is douchy.

I can't stand him and his stupid robe.

I asked you this last week - how is a farmer also a night owl?!?

It has to be a pretty easy gig. She lives in a big mansion with servants, parties, etc. I'm sure she has a HUGE expense account and draws a big salary. And what does she have to do? I doubt there is any sex involved. Hef is 140 years old. He couldn't get it up with a case of Viagra and an hydraulic crane. She has to pretend she has sex with Hef.

She is a beard, of sorts.

If you take the above at face value, which I do, the woman is essentially makeing herself a non-sexual prostitute for the guy. I suppose that is a harsh statement but seriously if she is not simply gold-digging then why is she in the relationship? She is obvioulsy a very attractive woman if she wanted emotional support and a relationship she could easily find many other men willing to be a partner.

Most jobs where you work for someone else, other than a real prostitute, could be called non-sexual prostitute positions. This is a job for her. A good, high-paying job, with a built in glamorous lifestyle. Gold digger? I guess. But how is that different than if she modeled for the same money? She'd have to fight off agents and photogs hitting her. If she was an actress she'd likely have all the modeling issues AND have to have fake sex and kiss other men and women. This seems much easier. Of course she can still model, and act, if she wants. But now she has her fake relationship with Hef as a bit of protection, I suppose.

And, she may actually LIKE Hef. That's something to consider.

He's creepy.

I agree. But I bet he is also charming (in the eyes of some), powerful, rich, worldly. Chicks did that. Even if she isn't physically attracted to him (I shudder at the very thought of it) she might really like/respect him. That's more than most people can say about their boss.

She proboably does like the guy. The difference between a job and her situation is simply that she is marrying the guy. She possibly could be his paid "personal assistant" but has elected to marry him. A part of this for me is that our society has the tendency to make a joke out of something I believe to be a meaningful institution. Marriage has become either a lightening rod political issue to some or an entertainment vehicle to far too many others. Sadly, there are far too few examples out there of really good marriages for younger people to emulate. Popular press and celebrities tend to leave the impression that marriage is simply about money and sex. Not saying these are not real issues in a marriage but they do not encompass the whole deal.

I say this as a guy who is very happily married. Part of the reason why I am is that I take my marriage seriously. It is a fantastic relationship but also one that takes work and forces you at times to make difficult choices for it to work well.

Ah. I see your issue, and respect it. Having never been married, I wasn't looking at it that way.

"Marriage is a great institution, but who wants to live in an institution." -Groucho, maybe?

NP .. now I am pissed off at AT&T ... again

I had to call U-Verse for service last night as my broadband and phone went down. An hour on the phone with the service tech led to nothing ... made an appointment with them to show up at the house between 8A and Noon. Go online to check the status and they reflect a Noon to 4P appointment time. No way to "fix" the issue as it simply boils down to my word against theirs and it will not get a tech here any sooner. I'm off work today so it is not the end of the world but they just caused me to waste an entire day.

I digress ....

Well said. People concerned with the institution of marriage have chosen homosexuals as a target. Why not focus their attention on people like this who are TRULY making a mockery of it?

Personally, I say live and let live. But I doubt Ms. Harris is going to find this to be a very fulfilling life.

Agree on all points especially your pointing to the crowd who believe that homosexuals are "ruining the institution." Heck I know people in a committed gay relationship that make many in "a Chrisitian heterosexual marriage" look like a joke. Take for example the fine upstanding guy that beats the crap out of his wife once a week or so just because he can. Better yet what about the wife who just turns a blind eye to her husband fooling around and maybe simply does the same in response. What about the wife who runs up the credit cards and gets the family so far in debt they can't breathe? Examples of piss poor situations abound.

The point is that being human and meeting high standards of moral conduct is simply not easy. (BTW I'm not sayong I am a saint here either) It's foolish to point to one small group as the problem.

I guess I shouldn't turn this into a PPP thread though.

Damn Hefner!

I bet if I called from the playboy mansion I would get some faster service... what tech would not be racing out the door for that gig?:lol:
