Black Stripe on Helmet

Santa Brought a new Hutch Bills helmet for my 4 year old son. I noticed a black stripe down the middle. I thought it was due to it being an hutch product. The rest of the helmet is exactly the same. Today I noticed that the Pros have the same black stripe. Any one know why this is there? its odd because the rest of the uniform has no black. Whats up with this stripe?

It's supposed to be dark Blue. It's a Donohoe thing.
