BB27
Wish it wasn't going to happen so late at night. If it was totallity at 1230am then I might stay up for it, but no way I can see this and still function tomorrow. Oh well......
Chef Jim
So break out the flashlights. Because when a full lunar eclipse takes place on the shortest day of the year, North America may just get awfully dark. So it will be darker than any night during a new moon?? Ohhhhh....scary. Chandler#81
Thanks, Sphere! Especially considering the shortest day of the year thing, I'll re-set my alarm and dig out my Dark Side of the Moon LP!
ieatcrayonz
check it out I can't make it due to an appointment. Can you see if Sammy's shadow shows up? I'm working on a hunch here. Thanks. Edited December 20, 2010 by ieatcrayonz
BuffaloBill
I got up at 2:15 central to look at it - at that point it was roughly 4/5ths covered in the shadow and had a redish hue to it. Pretty cool to think that I was able to observe it in my lifetime. The Moon also appeared to be closer than normal.
eSJayDee
Wasn't very impressive here in Albany NY as it was partially overcast (it was actually kinda frozen misting while I was out). At about 1:15 EST there looked was a small piece out of the upper left corner. From about 1:55 to 2:15 I was outside & it was roughly 1/2 gone & getting smaller. At 2:25 it was mostly gone & what was there looked "dim". At 2:35 I could no longer see it. Other than when it was dim, it was regular color. It was too murky to make out any details of the moon at any time. My understanding was that at 2:35 it should have been still slightly visible, but I suspect due to it's dimness & it being only a sliver, I was unable to find it in the "clouds".
