Buftex Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Wow...came here to post tribute to Keith Richards, only to find out that the Captain is gone...
ConradDobler Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) I had the good fortune of seeing the Captain live at Buff State on Halloween, 1977. I still have the ticket stub. I have never heard such organized chaos in my life, and I've seen Pere Ubu. Too bad I was too young to catch Spike Jones, as Beefheart didn't fire guns as part of the song. Frank Zappa seems lullaby-like in comparison. Even though there were several different band members, their rendition of Big Eyed Beans From Venus just nailed it. Cugalabanza Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Rest in peace, you magnificent bastard! Moonlight in Vermont changed me (not sure for better or worse, but I'm glad anyway).
Sammyboy Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 RIP to a great artist and musician. Someone posted about Lou Reed the other day and it got me to thinking about musicians that I used to listen to and haven't heard from in a long time. Captain Beefheart was the first one that popped into my head. I went onto youtube and have been watching some of the videos there the last couple of days. Now to find out he passed away. Sad.
