San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 It was 1989. But I never knew which West Seneca bar they were talking about. Do you remember when the Bills signed the Doctor brothers from Timon high school? What about Drew Habeeb or whatever his name was from UB. The Bills have always tried to win with fan favorites Before you guys try to say Habeeb was a Muslim, back off because he was a Lebonese Catholic....Just like Danny Thomas Drew Haddad? What'd you have for breakfast, bro?
Mr_Blizzard Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) For many years Bills fans have not only wanted a great quarterback, but they have wanted to LIKE their quarterback. They wanted him to be smart, down to earth, and classy, a family man and preferably Irish-Catholic. Ryan Fitzpatrick, if he becomes great will fit this mold. I think it is natural to want your sports heroes to have character. Cam Newton is not smart, not down to earth, not classy, not a family man, and certainly not Irish-Catholic. Maybe this is why so many of you fans are against drafting him. Character is nice, but it does not necessarily win football games. Draft Newton if he is available because he is the best chance the Bills have to save the franchise I'm not ready to see the Bills draft a one-hit wonder with a high first-round draft pick. If he had produced for several seasons at a high level in a pro-style offense, it would be a different story. Plus, this team needs DEFENSE! Edited December 18, 2010 by Mr_Blizzard

dubj04 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Just wanted to say this turned out to be one of the more interesting threads I read in a long time. With that said I am an Auburn fan, and I say we have to take Cam if he is available. His combination of size and speed and accuracy are a rare combination. His passing numbers would be even better, but the offense at Auburn is designed for a dual threat qb. In the NFL he will not be asked to run that often, but being able to do so when needed could make him great(Steve Young, John Elway). I'm not saying he will be that good but he has the skill set to go very far. I say give him a chance, how many of us would really measure up if judged on our behavior in college. Besides, I would love to see my Bills draft my favorite player(Cam) from my favorite college( Let's go Tigers!!)
Amstel Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I love the fact that he's a Mick like me! However, they don't let Catholics into Harvard WASP land so I'm not so sure he's Catholic...
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 You say "potato", I say "pa-taters", let's call the whole thing off youtube.com/watch?v=tqTWQiTlhKQ The dude working the counter there is actually Jim Jarmusch, the film director, making a cameo for Billy Bob. Good stuff. "I reckon I have me some of the big 'uns"
Noma Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Newton Classy??? His father shopped him around for cash His father was a part time storefront preacher who now suddenly has gotten the money to build a "mega-church" Auburn a classy program??? Like the booster who took the players to his friend's Casino where they were set up with private slot machines that won on EVERY pull of the lever Wait until after the bowl games and Auburn gets the NCAA "death sentence". Newton will be off making money in the NFL when that happens Newton's father is a greddy Elmer Gentryesque charlatan and the apple does not fall far from the tree That does not mean the Bills should not draft Newton because he can make them winners By the way, if Bills fans were not so hung up on "image", we could have signed Michael Vick and we would be headed to the playoffs this year the best part about you ripping on people for saying that newton was classy to make your point was that the only thing you pointed out was stuff his father did. you are an ignorant race crying joke. newton has plenty of things that tarnish his image, and you apparently dont know much about this guy who will "make us winners" to even talk about it. hes a fine player. hes not worth a top 5 pick, but i wouldnt mind him here to sit and learn under fitz. you know why i like fitz? because hes playing well, not because of how he looks. also, vick is a garbage human being, and i for one am glad he is not in buffalo. vick wouldnt put up his numbers in buffalo, that should be obvious. would he be better than fitz? probably if he was able to stay in games without being carried off the field. comparing Cam to Vick as human beings isnt even possible. getting paid to play football and make a school tens of millions of dollars isnt anywhere close to torturing animals.
Bills99999 Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 The dude working the counter there is actually Jim Jarmusch, the film director, making a cameo for Billy Bob. Good stuff. "I reckon I have me some of the big 'uns" Slingblade is my #1 all-time favorite movie Another great movie is "Precious" about that fat girl in Harlem. There is a scene with her mother (Played by talk show host Monique) that makes Doyle Hargraves look like an altar boy. I can;t post a link because she talks nasty, but if you google "Monique Precious", it is about the 4th clip down called "white B word" Monique should have gotten an Academy Award for that
CAVEDAWG Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Fitz doesn't exactly look Irish Catholic with the beard.....more Amish than anything else. Actually now that I think of it, he looks like the guy from "The Hangover"...maybe Fitz is just a loan wolfpack. LOL

Cam Newton was thrown out of Florida for cheating. As if he was taking tough classes at that football factory. He bought a stolen laptop knowing full well that it was stolen and was dumb enough to spray paint it blackl and then paint "Cam Newton" on it in big white letters. That is a tard move right there Do you think he had no idea his father was selling his services? Now let's talk about Michael Vick. I never liked him. He is stupid. He cheats on the mother of his bastard child. He is a doper. I would bet big money he paid somebody to take his SAT for him to be NCAA eligible. He is so entrenched in the thug culture that he set up his thug buddies in house where they, and HE could go to brutalize innocent dogs for their own amusment. Vick needed to be punished for what he did to those dogs, but TWO YEARS in prison was TOO MUCH. He should have done 60 days in jail and be forced to build a primo animal shelter as a fine Now Vick wants a dog....They should let him have a poodle with one of those gay haircuts and a pink bow, and he should be made to walk the dog in public
The Dean Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Cam Newton was thrown out of Florida for cheating. Liar

There are plenty of Catholics at Harvard They even let the Kennedys in- except for John John who was WAY too stupid so he had to go to Brown. Besides, I would love to see my Bills draft my favorite player(Cam) from my favorite college( Let's go Tigers!!) I listened to a Tony Kornheiser podcast from this week. James Carville watches a lot of SEC football and he said that Cam Newton is the best college player he's ever seen. Tony said there is no way you can name 4 better seasons ever. I now want this guy! Of course, we need defense, etc., but to get to be a Super Bowl contender without an elite QB, you need an all time great defense. 85 Bears, 00 Ravens, 02 Bucs. We'll never get their with the lack of talent. You can get there with an elite QB and an OK defense.
The Dean Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Maybe I was misinformed, but I am not intentionally lying about it You have been posting in a thread (that you created) about Newton, and his character, yet you haven't bothered to do five minutes of actual research on the topic? Wow!

Now everything makes perfect sense.

Wow! I have a full time job and I also do some outside work. My brother is on disability, so he has plenty of time to do research for me Just out of curiosity, which schools were YOU ' way too stupid ' to attend? (I'm guessing the answer is all of them.) Well, I got my degree from UB just like 75% of the posters on TBD If I was JFK's son, they would have let me into Harvard, and I doubt it would have taken me more than two tries to pass the NYS Bar exam, but JFK Jr needed FIVE tries and he had private tutors
Booster4324 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 My brother told me and like I said he goes to alot of sports bars-not just one sports bar, but several sports bars and he gets info from many different sources Seriously?
Bills99999 Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 Seriously? Yes, he has a very generous disabilty pension and some money from a car accident. he can afford to go that often, although he pays a price with poor health because of the booze and bar food What better place to learn about sports than at sports bars. There are always games and ESPN on the TV's and the places are frequented by big time sports fans. He also brings in his laptop and sets it on the bar to stay updated about stuff I told him about TBD/TSW. He checked it out, but he did not like it
