PromoTheRobot Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Someone on another board figured out the Bills have turned over something like 60% of the roster since Chan arrived. That's a lot of dead wood. PTR

That's a lot of dead wood. PTR Wow, that's a lot. I'm sure that number will go up even more in the offseason. I think Nelson is as good as gone, especially with the most recent additions of two TE's.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Too bad I thought we had a gem of a TE however migraines have spoiled a few a careers
The Senator Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 That's a shame, thought we had a good one in Nelson. Time maybe to think Lance Kendricks in Round 3? 2010 JOHN MACKEY AWARD FINALIST: Lance Kendricks leads Wisconsin with 39 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns. In addition, Kendricks has proven invaluable as a blocker for the Badgers’ high-powered rushing attack, which currently boasts three players with over 800 rushing yards and at least 13 rushing touchdowns. Kendricks ranks third among all FBS tight ends in receiving yards, is tied for sixth in touchdowns and is tied for seventh in receptions. Earlier this season, Kendricks became the first Badger since Travis Beckum in 2007 to record back-to-back 100-yard receiving games when he tallied 103 receiving yards and one TD on six catches vs. Austin Peay one week after a career-high seven receptions for 131 yards and one score in win over Arizona State.
oregonbbfan Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 He needs more than Anacin. He needs a specialist Dr. who will look at his whole life history. Everthing from foods he eats, drinks, alergies, sleep habits to stress (getting on the field). Any can trigger the migraines. He should (probably has already) have shull scans, family history and even tooth examinations. As a previous sufferer, you must be your own advocate and keep tract of everthing you do and eat/drink. I am not a Dr. but living with or beating migraines is tough. I've written to Shawn and gaven him my Rx. Got lots of board response but none from Shawn yet. He is a talent and I hate to see him miss his opportunity to make it with this one chance in life. Don't know if the doobies help but they may. Here's hoping he makes it.
Coach Tuesday Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What a disaster of a season. He could've blossomed in Gailey's offense much like Fitz and Stevie. Instead, he got himself suspended, could barely get on the field when he returned, and fumbled away a game.

That's a lot of dead wood. PTR 31 of the current 53 (58%) appeared on last year's 53 man roster. 19 of the current starters were mainly starters last year--this doesn't include guys who get a lot of playing time this year who are not always listed as starters, like Florence, Scott, and Wilson.
dollars 2 donuts Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Nelson will be the 12th Bill on IR, with the likelihood that Evans will join him as 13. Stinks, but WTH, it is still much lower than the 18 and 21 we had the last couple of years.
Dorkington Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 That's really a shame. I had high hopes for Nelson, seemed like the pass catching TE we needed. Hopefully he recovers and finds success in the NFL.
John from Riverside Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 We need to get agressive in free agency and bring in a good VETERAN tight end..... Drafting Tight Ends is just not working out for us......its too bad I thought he had potential

I wonder if he will be cut loose in the offseason? I thought we ALWAYS hit on later round picks? Oh, you mean that our typical selection after the 3rd round has just as high a failure rate? Screw all of you who want to use the occasional decent late round selection or UFA signing to defend the abysmal college player evaluation track record of Tom Modrak. For every David Nelson/Stevie Johnson there's 5 Xavier Omons, Alvin Bowens, Nic Harris, Dwayne Wrights, CJ Ah Yous, and Shawn Nelsons.

Tell me, what GM has hit on every single draft pick they ever made? IMO, Modrak came in with Donahoe and should have been fired with Donahoe. The Bills have been filled with would of's, should of's, could of's for years. If Ralph didn't fire Bill Polian, the Bills would of... If the Bills wouldn't have put Rob Johnson in the wild card game vs the Titans, the Bills could of... If the Bills would have drafted McKinnie, Ngata, Revis, Oher/Matthews/Orakpo instead of Mike Williams, Whitner, Lynch and Maybin the Bills should of... All of it happened, but yet we still follow the Bills.
scurdog1 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Bowens, Harris, Ah You are still in the league playing for other teams. The bigger problem is lack of sticking with 1 coaching staff and system so we don't have to constantly change personnel to match the scheme.

To Jerry's point, should have resigned Greer instead of drafting McKelvin.

Modrak is WAY, WAY below the first round expectations. Maybe he's on target for later rounds. Whooopeee! I come to this Board to vent about my frustrations as a Bills fan, but instead of empathy I often get "hey, actually this guy who's most responsible for making your life miserable with crappy talent evaluation is really good." In the latest incarnation, this argument is that while Modrak routinely blows top picks, he's great at late round/UFAs. No he's not.

That's sad, dude. Hey at least there's a few guys here you can exchange pm's with.

I wonder if he will be cut loose in the offseason? And they added a couple of TE's just recently. I think we are witnessing yet another demise of a Modrak high round scouted player not coming to fruition... Edited December 14, 2010 by Red
