Alaska Darin Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 When I coached, tight ends were huge for us. We had Pete Metzelaars and Keith McKeller, who was like Gates and played basketball in college. When you hear the term "K-Gun," that meant that Keith was going into the game.
DC Tom Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Speedy Neal. I don't even know why or how I remember Speedy Neal - probably just because the name has a ring to it.
Spiderweb Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Tim Tindale Smallish white FB in the mold of Jamie Mueller, he broke a long gainer against someone and then was never heard from again. I think he was acquired from the CFL. 156060 Tindale had a big game with two long runs aganst the Dolphins in 1995, but not until Thurman had destroyed the Dophins. Holmes aslo had a big game.
grabowr30045 Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 How about Charles Romes. He used to live on Fillmore Ave. when I lived on the east side....
Spiderweb Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 No, the K Gun was named after Keith MacKellar, I believe because he kept forgetting that he was a member of the no huddle package. It had nothing to do with the K in Kelly. I'll add Monte Ledbetter to the obscure list. 156104 Ah, Monte Ledbetter. I've mentioned his name on rare occasion when those here forget (or never knew) how bad some of the Bills teams were beginning with 1968....Ledbetter was around in 67-68 if I remember correctly.
Spiderweb Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 How about Dudley Meredith (DT)., 1960's. One of the first Bills to go over 300 lbs. Slow moving slob, who subbed for Sestak and Dunaway IIRC.
coloradobillsfan Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 one of my fave players as a kid was Nick Mike-Meyer
RastaMouse Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Hal Garner, Bill Simpson and one of my favorites: Jeff Nixon. PS: Earlier post stated that Mitch Ferotte played 'D', I believe he was an offensive lineman - guard actually.
grabowr30045 Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Here's a good one...Daryl Manonica (I spelled it wrong)...obscure enough for us to trade him to the Raiders...
Guest Guest Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Oh, howsabout Gary Marangi (QB), John Skorupan, "Eat 'em up" Earl Edwards....
maddog Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Trivia - Who scored the first touchdown in Bills Super Bowl history? How about the obscure Don Smith. A one yard touchdown run. I bet most people don't know that one. After his career he was arrested on possession of cocaine I believe.
BRH Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Dave Behrman, the Bills' first draft pick. I delivered pizzas with his son Dave Jr. at Mr. Shoes in East Rochester in the late 1980s. His other son Mike was an all-Ivy tight end at Princeton in 1986. They took somewhat different paths in life, I'd have to say.
