GG Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 On second thought, maybe it was a good idea to start charging for tix. “The Detroit Lions have announced that due to the overwhelming response this morning for tickets to tonight’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants at Ford Field, tickets will no longer be distributed at the Ford Field Box Office," the Lions said in a news release. KD in CA Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Can't seem to edit m earlier post, but this is the best i could do around that classic Bills Jets game. Very Funny thread on a jets board about that night. Can't believe there is no you tube of this. The study linked in there is too funny http://forums.newyor...read.php?t=4785 You gotta love that an account of that game was published as a study of crowd behavior (less scholarly readers can jump to page 76 for the eyewitness account). The Great Pumpkin Incident
Mr. WEO Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I'm gonna try to tread lightly here,,,and not streotype people in too negative a way. But word out of Detroit is that the league/Team made a mistake in handing out free tickets. Lets just say the majority of tickets went to people (who stood in huge lines) that don't necessarily want to go watch the game. This ain't going to be a wholesome family crowd. IMO, they should arrest anyone trying to sell one of those "free" tickets near the stadium or on craigslist or wherever(impossible i know). And how many of those Free ticket holders are going to be in a good mood if they shut the doors early? They cut off the Free ticket gievaway after about 1pm today after many more people showed up than they thought. Here's the estimated ticket distribution as per a Detroit website... the following tickets will all be recognized for admission tonight: 1) 25,000 free tickets (may not all be let in depending on how many of #2 & #3 below get in) 2) 60,000 packer/lions tickets (stubs from yesterdays game) 3) 60,000+ viking/Giant tickets (if those folks can make it to Detroit they are guranteed a 50 yd line seat) If 100% of 1) are used and 75% of 2) are used and 25% of 3) are used, that comes to about 70,000 folks who should be let in. I believe Ford field has about 60,000 seats... Why arrest them for selling the tickets--wouldn't they be selling to actual fans of football who want to watch the game?
gggbills Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I might just watch this game tonight. Entertainment galore. Is this game on regular TV?
SJ Bills backer Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Its been a long time since Detroit has seen a real football game in their fair city
sullim4 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Its been a long time since Detroit has seen a real football game in their fair city Actually, they played a super bowl there not too long ago. Better than what Buffalo can say!
Mr_Blizzard Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 They should also offer free beer while they're at it! But we cut them off at half-time. Just because.
boyst Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Game is not on here, any reports from anyone on what it looks like????
PromoTheRobot Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Giants are up 14-3. No looting yet. 21-3 now. Is this the same Vikings team the Bills played? Why couldn't we have played these jokers? BTW it looks like there are only people in the lower bowl. Upper deck is empty. PTR Edited December 14, 2010 by PromoTheRobot
PromoTheRobot Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Meanwhile BAL is up 21-0 on the Texans. Now there's a team that 1) drafted a franchise QB in David Carr, and 2) signed a big name free agent QB. The result? 0 playoff appearances. PTR

BTW it looks like there are only people in the lower bowl. Upper deck is empty. PTR Got to hand it to the Fox camera crew. When they pan the crowd, they make certain to not show the upper deck As for the game, Travaris isn't getting the benefit of early ref calls in this one.
muggins Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I'm not surprised it isn't full. The roads here are absolutely terrible tonight, and it is 9 degrees outside. Everybody is sitting watching at home.

Since the Flutie / Johnson soap opera and the Music City puke, we drafted two franchise QBs (JP & TE), signed two small name QB FA (Holcomb & Fitzy), and traded for one big name QBs (Bledsoe).. The result, no playoffs since god knows when and 3-10. And when we draft a DE/DT, LB and RT in the first three rounds next year we will all be looking at our shoes when we find out FItz isn't the answer.

apuszczalowski Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Just sayin' the Texans haven't done much better. PTR They also drafted a DE at #1 (over Reggie bush), and a LB that won Rookie of the year last year What does this mean/prove? ABSOFREAKINLOUTLY NOTHING, theres no right or wrong way to build a team. Theres no foolproof method/recipe. You just draft the best players and build a great team with good coaching Edited December 14, 2010 by apuszczalowski
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 They also drafted a DE at #1 (over Reggie bush), and a LB that won Rookie of the year last year What does this mean/prove? ABSOFREAKINLOUTLY NOTHING, theres no right or wrong way to build a team. Theres no foolproof method/recipe. You just draft the best players and build a great team with good coaching Amen to that, apuz. No magic formulae exist. Ask the three "bottom feeders" the Bills have beaten, each of whom has drafted at least one "franchise QB" in the past decade....
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What does this mean/prove? ABSOFREAKINLOUTLY NOTHING, theres no right or wrong way to build a team. Theres no foolproof method/recipe. You just draft the best players and build a great team with good coaching Amen. I'd been trying to get this point across for awhile and finally gave up. Most people are simply too dogmatic and cling to their beliefs like a baby marsupial to his mother's teat. They don't realize that if you draft a QB first that you might be drafting Peyton Manning or Alex Smith. They don't realize that if you take a defensive end first that you might be drafting Bruce Smith or Walt Patulski. They don't realize that if you take an offensive tackle first that you might be drafting Walter Jones or Mike Williams. It is not what position you draft. It's who you draft. And it's really disheartening to see the same regurgitated stuff coughed up over and over. (Where's that coffee pot?)
