Giants-Vikings game moved to Monday because of snowstorm

A snowstorm forced the NFL to push the New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon to Monday night.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the decision in an e-mail message Saturday night, with the Giants stuck in Kansas City because of the weather that brought 15 or more inches of snow in Minnesota.

Aiello said the decision was made on the recommendation of Metrodome officials. Kickoff time and television arrangements were still being determined.

Yeah, we've been getting nailed with snow the last 24 hours... Roughly 20" where I live. That's practically unheard of around here.

"By Saturday evening, nearly 17 inches had been dumped on Minneapolis, with snow still falling. Nearly 22 inches fell in Shakopee. Although that accumulation was short of the 28.4 inches of snow recorded in the storied Halloween blizzard of 1991, it was by far the deepest since then."

What are they going to do about TV?

Kickoff was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Sunday, but is now slated for 8 p.m. ET Monday. FOX will have normal regional coverage of the game in both Minnesota and New York. The change won't affect the Baltimore-Houston Monday Night Football matchup on ESPN, which will kick off at 8:30 p.m. as usual.

Will I still get to watch House Monday night?

Didn't know you lived here in the land of lutefisk and walleye. Where about in the cities do you hail from? I'm in the hood of North MPLS, and we got about 16 inches, perhaps more.

Friggin wimps.

Unlike western NY and the lake effect snow, six inches is blizzard conditions with the right amount of wind and cold. You don't get -15 in Buffalo, like we do in MN, and the Dakota's. Try shoveling when the windchill is -50 or more. It's a whole different environment and they are not equipped to handle this much snow with 30 mile an hour winds following an Alberta Clipper.

Thanks! :) The trip was AMAZING! I'll be posting some pictures soon. :)

I've lived in Uptown and Cottage Grove. Now I'm across the border in Hudson. (originally from NF, NY).

This was a storm that WNY would've been proud of -- with the blowing snow, you couldn't see more than a block much of yesterday.

I thought you said it was a"dry" cold

It is -- the snow was very light and fluffy, not wet like WNY snow. But the perfect conditions hit to nail us with a blizzard, and now the temps are in single digits with -30F windchill. Yay. :(

I live in a townhome, so I pay someone else to do that. ;)
