Rock Prophecies

Sometimes tenacity will win the day. And sometimes it helps to be in the right place at the right time. For legendary rock ‘n’ roll photographer Robert Knight, it was a little bit of both, and his extraordinary career is the subject of the new documentary Rock Prophecies.

“It’s really about a guy from Hawaii who managed to track down and work with the top people in the world,” Knight said. “It’s about empowerment. If I can do it, anyone can. There’s nothing special about me.”

Rock Prophecies will be released on DVD by PBS Sept. 14 at $24.99 and will air on public television in the fall.

The title is a reference to Knight’s good fortune of photographing some of the biggest acts in music just as they were becoming legendary, such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper, Elton John, Eric Clapton, B.B. King and Aerosmith. The film includes interviews with and performances by Jeff Beck, ZZ Top, Carlos Santana, Slash, Panic at the Disco and others. DVD extras include an alternate ending, deleted scenes, music videos and commentary.
