Tortured Soul Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/01/best-team-right-now-bucs-7-4-browns-4-7-or-bills-2-9/?ref=sports Didn't see this posted anywhere. Nothing groundbreaking, but people have noticed what the team has done.
Dr. Fong Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 "Instead, they are 2-9, wondering why teams like the Bucs and the Rams and the 49ers are talking about the playoffs, and why they are talking about what might have been. Again." That part isn't hard to figure out at all. If the Bills played in the NFC West they'd be right in the playoff hunt.

If the Bills were in the NFC west they would have clinched the division by now. The AFC East has been and will certainly remain the most difficult division in Football. The AFC North is no cakewalk either. We'll get to settle one of the discussion on the field 12/12/10 home against the Brownies. They had our number the last 3 times in a row. My wife's family are Browns fans I had to hear their **** for the last 3 years. I'm hoping we hang a beat down on them, that will settle this debate. I like that young Bucs team, I would trade Lee Evans, Stevie Johnson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Freddie Jackson, and CJ spiller and pretty much the whole rest of the team for Josh Freeman, Mike Williams, Arelious Benn, Captain Grapefruit, Blount, and Caddi. The Bucs have a great young offensive core for the next few years. They are going to make some noise if they can lock down the D. Edited December 2, 2010 by Why So Serious?
Mr. WEO Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 More than one poster predicted that the AFCE was "overrated" prior to the season beginning.
dgrid Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Ryan Fitzpatrick has emerged as a credible starter, averaging more yards per game (247.3) than Tom Brady, throwing as many touchdown passes (19) as Matt Ryan (in two fewer starts) and fewer interceptions (10) than either Peyton or Eli Manning.
McD Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Ryan Fitzpatrick has emerged as a credible starter, averaging more yards per game (247.3) than Tom Brady, throwing as many touchdown passes (19) as Matt Ryan (in two fewer starts) and fewer interceptions (10) than either Peyton or Eli Manning. NICE!!!
BillsVet Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 The Bucs have a great young offensive core for the next few years. They are going to make some noise if they can lock down the D. Most of the Bucs' offensive talent at the skill positions was acquired in 2009-10. Winslow came via trade, but TB is proof you can rebuild after one bottoming out season. Anyone who says rebuilding takes more than that has a bad front office or simply isn't interested in ever being a playoff team looking to win the big one. Raheem Morris hasn't won a whole lot yet considering he's a 2nd year HC, but rebuilds don't begin until a team has their franchise QB. And both the Bucs and Rams probably have their guys, both of whom can make all the throws.

Josh Freeman was drafted #17-2009 Mike Williams was drafted in the 4th round - 2010 Benn was drafted in the second round. - 2010 Blount - undrafted, signed from WW - 2010 It goes to show you don't have to bottom out to make good draft picks. BigBallzMcgee Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 NICE!!! agreed! Lets hope we go defense or O-Line in the first round and pass on a QB

This Bills team doesn't know how to win or close out games. Just look at the last 6 games, if they knew how to win and close out games, they could very well be on a 6 game win streak. The odds are no matter what division the Bills were in, they would find a way to lose these close games week after week. If they ever do learn how to finish games they have an chance to and should win, then we might have something here, but until then they will be the team that always "almost wins."
shoveldog Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 agreed! Lets hope we go defense or O-Line in the first round and pass on a QB I still don't understand all this O-Line talk in the first round. We have a solid group now. Add a tackle in the 4th or 5th and go "D" all the way with 1-3.

Winning or closing out games would be much easier against the likes of the 49ers, Seahawks, and certainly the Cardinals.

billsfan89 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Your record is what you are. Yes the Bills are better then their 2-9 record would indicate (Records are important but can be misleading as you have to look into it like any stat) they took a lot of good teams down to the wire (Pats*, Ravens, Chiefs, Bears, Steelers) and should have at least won 2 of those games. Then when they faced bad teams they won (Lions, Bengals). The Browns are a less then stellar 4-7 but have wins over the Pats* and Saints as well as a last second loss to the Jets that could have easily been a tie. The Browns have also played respectable in most of their losses only really being dominated 2 or so times (Once by the Steelers and once by Atlanta). All their other losses (To a pretty respectable bunch for the most part) have also been by one score. But the Bucs are 7-4 bunch a soft 7-4 but 7-4 none the less and odds are even if Tampa doesn't win another game 7-9 is going to be better then the Browns and Bills finish at. Its a pretty interesting comparison and shows just how fragile winning in the NFL can be. Most teams are just a combination of luck, injury, and freak production away from winning or losing.

In reality, the Bills have been able to successfuly close out every team with a losing record we've played. In the NFC West, all 4 teams in the division have losing records. I live in Seattle and go to Seattle games. The Bills would clobber these guys again. The Lards are pathetic. Woudl be nice to have cupcake in our division ... Bucs are best team right now of the 3. Buffalo Barbarian Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I will go with the Browns because of better D and the "MAN" Peyton Hillis
BillsFanM.D. Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 So he must be better than Brady and Peyton. C'mon... No....the key word in the prior quote is credible. Unfortunately, many folks here refuse to even acknowledge that. I'm not saying he's a HOF'er, but the guy has put together more than a 'game or two' this year and people are starting to take notice. Sit back....enjoy....and hope it continues.
