Buftex
So, I purchased a PS3 a little over a year ago, from a former co-worker of mine. It was in minty fresh condition, and had rarely been used, as her kids wanted an X-Box instead. I got it for $200, a pretty good deal I thought. Anyways, I don't use it all that much. In fact, I mostly have used it as a blu-ray player. Money is tight, and I was going to give it to my nephew, who recently lost his dad, for Christmas. This morning, I was getting ready to pack it up, and turned it on, just to make sure there wasn't a disc in there. The system came on, and I got my blue and green lights, but then I noticed that there was a blinking yellow light I had never noticed before. I turned the tv on, to see what it said. Despite the fact that system was set right, first the tv said there was "no signal" from the PS3 player, and then the screen went black, and there was a parallel, purple line of static. I noticed too, the machine wasn't as noisy as normal, and it seemed to be getting hot, awfully quick. Maybe an internal fan burned out? Anyone know what the problem could be? I went online, and saw something about a "yellow light of death"...there seemed to be varying opinions on what this meant. My question, anyone else experienced this? Did you take it somewhere to get it fixed, and about how much did it cost to fix? The last time I used this machine was almost a month ago, to watch a blu-ray...it worked fine then. WVUFootball29
The Yellow Light of Death is extremely rare so I don't think that is the problem. Try this first, go turn the playstation on using the power button and hold it down for about 5 seconds to hear a second beep. This will reset the video properties and should fix the problem for you. If this is does not work, send me a pm and I'll try to help you a little more.
