bills44 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 the Bills clinched the AFC East Championship against the Jets, 9-6. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198811200buf.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX8DTfuCxKs
BuffaloBill Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 How long ago it was .... and to think we have been in the long decade of suck for the past ten years.
Heitz Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 That video is freaking amazing - THAT'S why I'm a Bills fan. And those playoffs will come back to the Ralph someday...
edg77 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Wow. They pulled the goal posts down after winning the division? Can't imagine what would have happened had they won it all. And, was Daniel Boone still on TV just 22 years ago? TV has changed.
skibum Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Nice permullet on Wes Goforth. David Hasselhof would be proud.
Just Jack Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 the Bills clinched the AFC East Championship against the Jets, 9-6. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198811200buf.htm youtube.com/watch?v=tX8DTfuCxKs Ahhh... the good old days before all the graphics on the screen telling you scores, time outs left, time left in the game, fantasy football updates, how many cups of gatorade have been drank, etc....
Steve O Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 was at the game but didn't go on to the field...still have the beer stein with the team roster that I got for Christmas that year
BillsFanM.D. Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 1st and only time I ever ran on the field!! Me too. I was but a high school boy.... fun times.
Mike in Syracuse Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Wow. They pulled the goal posts down after winning the division? Can't imagine what would have happened had they won it all. And, was Daniel Boone still on TV just 22 years ago? TV has changed. My memory may be off but a few games later they tore down the posts and carried them up to Ralph Wilson's box!
Just Jack Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I believe our own Lancaster Steve was working security that day and may be one of the guys you see escorting Marv Levy off the field if I remember the story correctly.
jsmc247 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 does anyone here know the guy in the yellow rain-suit (sitting atop the goalpost crossbar)? everytime i watch a youtube clip of bflo fans ripping down the posts -- i swear i see the same guy (in the yellow rain suit) leading the way. what a fan!
GRHater69 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Too bad they didn't include the regulation series where Freddie Smerlas blocked the kick. I jumped out of my seat for that, even though Smerlas hasn't been too kind to the team in recent years, I always felt that play gave him some vindication for being a poster child for the 2-14 years. It's also strange seeing Bennett wearing 55, got so used to him in 97 during the Superbowl years and after. Glad also the Don Criqui was doing the game, who better to have than a WNY guy in the booth. Thanks for posting!
DrDawkinstein Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Was 9 years old at that game with my dad. I still remember sitting in our seats, watching that Norwood kick go through, and staying to watch the chaos after the game. And then things just got better from there.
Wacka Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Was there, but didn't go down on the field. One of the uprights came through our section and we all ran over to touch it, including my then 62 (now 84) year old mother.
Meathead Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 sgt pepper taught the band to play was there. went on the field. got a piece of goalpost. and a goalpost flag. ah memories
Mike In Illinois Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 The first thing I notice with that clip is how loud the stadium is and how they respond to the bills' offense asking for quiet. The younger Bills fans who don't recall the heyday for the late-80's/early 90's take note: This is how loud the stadium will be when the Bills start winning division titles again. Bring your voices (and your earplugs)!
Fedido Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I was there. running out onto the field was GREAT! being there when the first goalpost went down was the best! chanting HAAAAAASSSSTTYYYYY! ohhhh the bruce salutes... one day (hoprfully soon) the Rich (or Ralph) will be rocking on Sundays again. GOOOOO BILLS!
5 Wide Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Everyone talks about how deplorable the stadium behavior is these days, I would bet that if the team starts winning again, that might change. A frustrated fan base drinking just cuz that's the only thing worth while at the Stadium vs. an excited fan base drinking to celebrate the team...
